A far-fetched idea
Return to board index
With all the changes since vanilla in PvP and PvE battles, siege engines, arenas, resilience etc. I had one idea that is maybe way, way out of the question, but what if Blizzard would make a single ability for every class/spec that is not the type of auto-moves in the game? (I know WoW combat is not auto, I just like to put it that way here).
I am not talking about something that changes the whole combat system in the game, but it would be a major change. Think Siege Engine in WotLK.
So, here are my ideas for ability for a class/spec. Please note that I did not make for every class, and some classes will have a ability that is like another ones, like Warriors and Death Knights :
Melee's were a bit tricky to come up with an idea, but I was thinking about something like these:
Rogues: Improved Backstab: Requires stealth. When the rogue stealths near the target, he stabs his weapon where he clicks on the target. Neck and head causes more damage, while the chest does less, and the legs even less. 3 min CD.
Warriors: Fiery stance: The Warriors weapon is bathed in flames. Clicking the mouse will cause you to swing your weapon, hitting a target in melee range, causing it to be stunned for 3 seconds and dealing X fire damage. Last 10 seconds or 3 swings. 3 min CD.
Hunters were the easiest ability to make, here's it:
Marksman-shot: 0.5 sec casting time. The hunter shoots a powerful, aimed shot (if you are still clueless, sniper shot) from a long range distance (Up to 150 yards). Hitting the neck and head causes more damage, while the chest does less, and the legs even less. 3 min CD.
Casters: Were hard since every class was unique, compared to the melee. I put healing class there aswell.
Priests: (holy) Healing shot: 0.5 sec casting time. The priest creates a magical shot and shoots it at a friendly target, healing it for X amount of health. Hitting the nech and head causes more healing, while the chest does less healing, and the legs even less. 30 yard range (this one might be the crasiest.)
Mages: Fire lance: Channeled. The mage casts a fiery lance in the area, dragging it as he moves his mouse. When the lance lands on a enemy target, it causes X damage every second to it. Lasts 10 sec.
I plan on making a Druid ability along with a Paladin and a Death Knight. any ideas are welcome.
And BTW, to balance the abilities between classes, you could make the mouse more 'fussy' on said OP ability, and OFC also reduce by damage/CD
I know there are better odds of a tree winning a gold in the Olympics than this being added to the game but atleast it was fun making them up.
Any comment is welcome.
Interesting idea, but I'm not a fan and here's why. I usually play a Pally tank and my attack goes something like this:
Where did I hit my target? Where was I aiming at? I'm busy using my mouse to look around for adds or strays and I don't want to try to click a target in the middle of a group of 5-6 mobs. It's hard enough to hit the right one, much less where I want.
Most people don't use the mouse for their attacks and this forces them into that paradigm (if I understand it correctly.) That's why I don't think it would work. Otherwise, it's a novel thought.
Or my thought on this and this is no way downing the idea.
If I wanted to play a first person shooter I would go play COD. The whole Idea of hiting someone in a certain zone just yells HEADSHOT! to me and that brings me back to COD or even Halo.
In response to the comments above, I am aware that this idea is not capeable to become real until WoW reaches the
expansion. I just simply wanted to tell my idea, since it would make the game less gear dependant. I also wanted people to come with new abilities for the other classes, I need one for the druid :)
Sounds like something that would be in Diablo, not WoW. Nothing really has been interactive like this in WoW, and really, I think it would bring on a LOT of QQ, having to actually move your mouse around to specific spots to DPS, instead of just mindlessly mashing buttons.
Also, what if your camera is zoomed way out, like I like to keep it? How are you going to aim for the chest area, which is only a few pixels at that range? You'd have to be zoomed into first-person mode to have some of these be actually possible.
I had thought something like an automatic switch on a 1st person screen when you click for the first time on the spell, and on the next click you fire off the spell
