so.... I have these trinkets available to me....
- Talisman of resurgence
- Solace of the fallen
- Binding stone (heroic)
- Spark of hope
- The egg
I have been using the "Talisman" and the "binding stone" because im not having any mana issues and the other trinkets seem more regen/mp5 focused.
Can anyone else see a better combination. Is the Flat 150 spellpower from "solace" better than the 128 intellect and 2 min 599 boost from the "Talisman". I havent been a disc priest for very long so id really appreciate some advice ty.

have you considered getting
Eye of the Broodmother
? It's easy to get people to pug it since you only have to do FL + Razorscale. I have been using Eye+Solace.

Since he is healing though he wouldn't be getting the sp benefits from the spyglass...unless he's dps'ing at the same time, and while that is ok in heroics, I don't see it happening in raids.

First you have to remember to get it stacked up at the beginning, then remember to keep it up, as well as keeping the tanks alive/raid alive depending on your job. Then if it does fall off you waste time you could be healing getting it back up, or simply have a crit trinket. Eye of the brood provides crit and the SP bonus will always be active

Tossing out a

I'm gonna do a bit of maths here just to see how much of a mana drain it is.
The first thing to note is that, as Discipline, you will have 0 Hit Rating. This means that all spells you cast will have a 14% chance to miss (assuming Misery is up on the boss). So, for a general overview, the following will remain true:
There will be a time lapse between the final tick of a potential DoT dropping off and a new DoT of the same kind being cast. This will be 5 seconds (I assume the buff itself is 10 seconds). This allows for a chance for the DoT to miss and have to be recast.
Because there is a 14% chance to miss, all mana costs in calculations are increased by 14% to account for misses.
This spec
is assumed.
Devouring Plague
: 868 Mana cost. Cast every 29 seconds. 868*1.14 = 989.52 mana. (989.52/29)*5 = 170 Mp5 lost.
Shadow Word: Pain
: 764 Mana cost. Cast every 23 seconds. 764*1.14 = 870.96 mana. (870.96/23)*5 = 189 Mp5 lost
Holy Fire
: Holy Fire gets a bit complicated. If you miss, you can't just re-cast it. You would have to follow up with a Smite 14% of the time. So. Holy Fire is 424 mana. 14% of the time, you will also expend a 579-mana Smite. In the case of the former, the re-cast time is 12 seconds. In the latter, about 10 seconds. We'll model this by adding together a weighted average of the two: 424 mana every 12 seconds = 177 Mp5 Loss and (424+579 over 10 seconds)*0.14 = 70.21 Mp5 loss. Total: 247 Mp5 lost. What Holy Fire gains by way of a reduced mana cost compared to the two shadow dots it loses by the short duration of the DoT.
There is no efficient way to keep the buff rolling as Disc. You can't stack Hit Rating -- that's just as detrimental to your healing ability as losing the Mp5. Given the massive loss of Mp5, it is
highly likely
that a raid will wipe from you going OOM. For the sake of 180 spellpower? Not worth it. It's like the Anti-Solace. Get Sliver of Pure Ice or something if you want a spellpower boost without wrecking your mana pool.

Get Sliver of Pure Ice or something if you want a spellpower boost without wrecking your mana pool.3% crit and 180SP are well worth the 170mp5 in my opinion.

Enjoy going OOM, then. 170Mp5 is a lot. Like, seriously a lot.
I don't know why you would want to sacrifice 170Mp5 when you can get almost the exact same amount of spellpower on the Sliver and
gain
Mp5.

Uh. If you're not having mana problems to the extent that you're not using any mana cooldowns already, then you have too much regen. You should be finishing fights with 20% of mana remaining after having popped all cooldowns. If you're not doing that, you have too much regen and need more throughput trinkets.
Nevertheless, that does not mean "Take negative mp5 from the Spyglass"
