The LFD system is basically used as a emblem grind for people to gear up. The quicker you finish dungeons, the faster you get loot. I know it's possible for a 3k gearscored person doing 1k dps to finish a heroic but it also slows down your group considerably and I find it quite rude that some people expect to be carried through content they aren't geared for.
The way I see it is this: If you are wearing all quest greens and blues your gearscore is probably around 3k. You can get all crafted/rep blues/epics and push that to 3500+. At that point get some friends or guild members to drag you through some heroics or queue for some regulars to be capable of at least 1800 dps on a boss. Doing less than that I see as lazy, wanting to get carried and rude by slowing down those who are trying to gear up themselves.
When I hit 80 on my warrior I did dailies to get gold and spent around 2k on boes and crafted gear to get a 3900 gs and defense cap myself so I could tank some heroics. Even then I always brought guild healers I knew could keep me alive so people wouldn't be bothered by my low hp pool. It took some work, took putting off buying my epic flying mounts, but I wanted to pull my weight.
If someone shows up in my random dungeon with a 3k gs I give them the benefit of the doubt but tell them if you can't do 1500 dps you should be queuing regulars and we will kick you asap cus you're just slowing us down. I don't think it's elitist to do so, I think it should be common courtesy to be geared enough for a dungeon to queue for it. What are your thoughts?
I'll reply by telling you a story. I enter Nexus as a random dungeon. 3 4800+ gs dps and a 5k gs healer. The tanks was a druid who had 20k hp in bear form and did ~600 dps. So guess what? We let the druid pull, but then I pulled most of them off and tanked them myself... as elemental shaman. We finished Nexus in ~18 minutes without a single wipe.

heroics are there for those exact people to get better gear, you sir, are wrong.
you are the one who needs to get it right. they have more of a right to be in those heroics than you do. go grind your emblems in a raid. you are geared for that. they arent.
you just do it in heroics because its the easiest way and if some undergeared newbie cost you a few seconds or even minutes, you are complaining? .. just.. WOW.
Because prior to this new lfd system a brand new 80 in quest greens and blues would have ZERO chance of getting into a heroic. If you queue up like that you're being lazy and expecting to get carried. It's one thing if you have guildies or friends who queue with you and want to help you gear up. It's an entirely other thing to expect random strangers to carry your butt. At that point you're wasting my time which yeah I see as rude. I don't really see your point, it's not like I'm saying everyone should have 5k gear and do 4k dps, that's ridiculous, but it's equally ridiculous to do sub 1k dps and think you should be pugging random heroics.
Carried my ass. Sure some little kids that don't want to do anythign might get carried but I will make sure to try and out dps you even if I am in blues and greens.

I have seen some grossly geared people in my heroics. I am talking warrior dps wearing tank gear and dps DKs wearing spell gear. I allways go as prot on my pally because I want to set the pace, if there is dps under me in damage done, well I can only hope that these. I dont know how to check my gearscore, mainly because I hate the idea of that program, but I am sitting in full t9 with togc10 off pieces. As long as I (the tank) dont have to res you every pull I could care less.

DPS is easy enough to carry, and as long as the rest of the group is decent, it shouldn't make a difference. I have done a few heroics where someone quit and we four manned it. And I am sure that an uber geared, talented 3 man team can probably finish most 5-man heroics. Now tanks and healers are different. Fair or not, they need to be held to a higher standard. If my rogue dies mid-fight, you might not even notice, but if the healer dies or runs out of mana, it's a wipe. If the tank can't hold aggro or gets one-shot, it is also probably over. I wouldn't boot a healer or tank just on their GS, I'd at least give them a shot, but if you can tell they are having trouble on the first few trash pulls, they are gone.
