it may still be useful in saying whether or not actions that have happened or will happen are
wrong
.
How? "Wrong" has no meaning in your system.

No, I'm saying there is likely a deterministic ethics system that exists. Determinism and Ethics aren't mutually exclusive. But yes, you're right, I don't really care too much about rightness or wrongness.

Causal determinism is, roughly speaking, the idea that
every event is necessitated
by antecedent events and conditions together with the laws of nature.
Ethics, on the other hand, deal with morality which is a "code of conduct" or how you
should
act.
You can't talk about
ought
s in relation to necessities. 1+1 = 2. It's not that it ought to...it does.
Now to bring this around to my epic finisher. :P
I'd say a good amount of your posts in these various debates have been filled with
should
s and
ought
s. If you truly believe in determinism it doesn't make any sense to say government
should
to X, and not Y.

And why not? I know that good people die every day. It doesn't mean I like it.

Then say you
wish
X won't happen. But saying X shouldn't happen is to deny your very metaphysical position. And honestly I can't take people very seriously who do that.

I am sorry I did not make my point clear so I'll explain. What I was getting at was that our society does not happen to view everybody on the same level and I am sure that most people that read the statistics would want them to be changed. My point was that although all people have the same right to life as the next, it does not mean that society as a whole sees things in the same light.
I hope that clears up my random stats and hopefully it seems like I wasn't just tossing stuff out there to confuse people
But how does that have anything to do with anything?
I think that's what MyTie is getting at.
