It's amusing how people feel they have they have the right to contradict Blizzard on their own lore/
Blizzard has contradicted there own lore dozens of times. Need I remind you how it was suggested that all draenei/Eredar were evil to start with and corrupted Sergeras?
So were all orcs. Lore evolves, it's not something static.
Actually Lore is something static. Its a written story,
when you reach the end of it , of course you can continue, but you cant change it in the middle in the cause of money
ok, but this story is in progress of being told/written, its not done yet, so therefore any ADDITIONS to the lore that was out there are fine, its not like they are going to the beginning of Warcraft lore and changing things around..
History is always changing.
The further back in history you go, the less accurate accounts and witnesses of that time become. New Facts about event happen all the time thus history is rewritten which then gives rise to new questions and new answers.
that was dumb :P
history is NEVER changing, history is continued, you cant change something that already happend, i know you might wanted to say that new things happen and write history, but just clearing up history is never chaning..

Ok, I'm not reading through six pages of posts to see if this hasn't been posted yet so sorry if it's not new information for anyone, but I had to put it out there:
Night elves used to have mages. Not just the highborne; there was basically a mage militia called the Moon Guard before they turned into a mostly druidic society. Yes, they shied away from the arcane arts after that whole thing where Azshara summoned the Legion and blew up half of Kalimdor, but the night elves definitely did use magic at one point. In fact, their return to the arcane arts in Cataclysm is very fitting because they had mages the last time they fought Deathwing, too. Maybe they decided it would be useful to have that competitive edge again.

The changes to lore in Cataclysm are much less ridiculous than the changes to lore with the addition of DKs.

I am looking forward to the expansion, lore and all... I really don't get the point of debating story lines in a video game.
IMO, it's like debating the story line between Mario Brothers games ( "How can Donkey Kong befriend Mario in Mario Supersluggers! He used to throw barrels at him back in vanilla Mario!")
But anywho...The only thing Im slightly peeved about is the rush to a new expansion with an odd lvl cap increase. But what are you gonna do, tiss like a coke addict whining about the percent of baking soda in their stuff.
