You think getting a group as a rogue is hard, try being a 21/40 destro lock. I have no CC at all, aside from death coil, and thus everyone either says "lol 15% extra damage isn't that much", or "just drop the imp! we need that extra half a hit worth of stam!" or the ever popular "but succubus is great cc!" Yeah, a 15 second, non-refreshable, only used on humanoids cc is great. right.
You've got a 'i got to be at the top of the damage meter' mindset.
If you're gonna be in a group, try thinking about the group more.
What would you say if you asked a priest for Fort and she said "It's only like half a hit, you don't need it."
I've changed my spec specifically so I can keep an imp out with blood pact for raids(always in tank group). I've been complimented multiple times by tanks because I'm good with positioning my Imp so all the tanks get Blood Pact and Fire Shield is always up.
No CC at all?
Banish, Enslave, Fear(when used smartly with CoA/CoR) and Seduce.
If you have a mob you need to seduce, cast Curse of Shadows on it to have it resist less. Seduce it, keep on eye on it. You won't be doing DPS the entire time. When it's near breaking, have your Succy start recasting it, if it gets near. Deathcoil it, re-seduce.
"but succubus is great cc!" Yeah, because they've played with a lock who knows how to play their class...
At the end of the day being at the top of the dps means nothing if you can't finish the instance because of too many wipes or you can't clear trash mobs because you're lacking CC.

If you think rogues have it bad when it comes to slackers ruining your classes reputation and there being too many of your class, try playing a hunter.

WoW on easy, that's why.
Gotta have a class where a new player can pick that takes little or no effort to go through the game. Send in pet, autoshoot. Get attacked? Feign Death.
Hats off to any good hunters out there. I only know a few(2-3 at most), the rest are huntards.

also, rogues don't give anything to the group other than sap and pickpocket/lockpick, it's better to have mage for AI, water/food and sheep for example.
Unless you do Shattered Halls, sap is as good as sheep. Just don't break it early. If you do there is blind.
my avenger's shield hates saps...
AI doesn't do much.
What a mage is about in my groups is offensive dispelling with spellsteal and superior AOE capabilities. That's what he brings, and it is not always needed.
Versatility is as important as dps, and the rogue wins in versatility in 5-mans in my opinion.
for paladin tanks, AI is a godsend, I can go through 6k mana on a single trash pull, my mana pool is only 5k...
mage's ability to freeze > blind since it effects multiple targets, but that's just my opinion
From what I've seen, rogues have the least versatility in a 5 man
all rogues have is their stunlock and poisons, fire mage = disorient, frost = elemental + ton of slow effects, arcane = the actual spell "slow"
they are limited, but I don't see how a rogue supports more versatility than a mage.

This thread makes me laugh. I think of my own experiences as a tank in groups with and without a rogue. Inviting a rogue to a group and people would be all nervous and stuff, then halfway through people start muttering 'wow we're tearing this place up with our dps'
If there's one thing i love as a tank it's killing mobs quickly so <3 rogues.
