Arena 2's 3's and 5's
Return to board index
I'l be starting to do arenas soon and i've been trying to develope a good pvp disc and this is what i came up with:
I'll be rolling with a pally in 2's
2 pallies in 3's or a pally and a shammy
2 pallies a shammy, and a DK for 5's
The shammy or on of the Pallies will assist heal for 5's we haven't decided yet.
i do have pvp gear with roughly 450 resil. not yet completed gathering it.
any suggestions for a good/different disc arena spec?
Your spec isn't bad, but
is my idea for an arena spec. I'll explain the differences. The main ones centre around the idea of dispel fodder.
0/3 Imp Renew. For the same reason that, until 3.1, no one took Improved Fortitude, Imp Renew is a bit wasted. It's not a very powerful spell as Discipline, and only serves as dispel fodder
1/3 Blessed Recovery and 1/3 Inspiration: More dispel fodder
5/5 Holy Specialisation. More Crit is good. Without question
0/2 Reflective Shield: Damage from this talent only procs off shields you cast on
, and so it is only a minor DPS boost for 2 points better spent elsewhere.
It depends a lot on your play style in pvp really. I'd rather rely on haste, since in arenas, priests are always 100% of the time casting something. This means the spells you cast will be gcd limited. Haste can be pretty important.
Dispelling has lost a lot of flare with all the chances for it to miss now. I consider it a waste unless I know I won't be drained. A lot of other priests disagree with this, but like I said, personal flare. I do however cleanse disease and most dots immediately. Rather spend the mana to upfront to prevent dmg and not have to heal it later.
I HIGHLY STRESS taking 5/5 Divine Fury over spell warding. Priest burst is all difference. A quick holy fire -> smite -> sw:d is great burst if a healer is cc'd and their partner is below 50%. 1 second makes all the difference. Also, the only spells that will really be hitting you are warlock dots, so no heavy burst since you should be able to los most everything else.
2 points left. This is what I would consider a standard cookie cutter spec.
0/2 Reflective Shield: Damage from this talent only procs off shields you cast on yourself, and so it is only a minor DPS boost for 2 points better spent elsewhere.
well the reason i cose that is that i've done skirmishes before and i usually get nuked hard and fast at start so with the shield up on myself i can auctually deal some dmg back and really mess up a rogue/hunter/pally/mage. that's jus what i think. I will agree w/e i heal naxx i never use renew as much as i used to after 3.1. good mental note thanks.
I HIGHLY STRESS taking 5/5 Divine Fury over spell warding.
well i'd rather much be able to withstand nukes from casters (i.e. Arcane Mages) rather then doing dmg and wasteing mana and GCD on dmg spells since its not our job. not saying an occasional SW: D to finish is nice.
