Remembering and respecting, true. Throwing a memorial-service for every little war that happened is silly. It's a waste of time. Teaching about the wars and conflicts and what caused them, is far more important than being reminded every year that people got killed. Focus your life on the positive things, and let the sad past stay in the past.

If so many people weren't willing to go to war, Hitler wouldn't have been able to start taking over Europe in the first place. Too many people think war is acceptable, and then say that since other side thinks war is acceptable, it justifies their actions.
Sometimes you have to do what you have to do, but that doesn't make it right.

Hitler and people who supported Hitler starting the war = not good. People defending their country and people from hostile invaders = necessary/acceptable.
Except before the start of the war Hitler was seen as good for Europe
(by all but the french)
as a strong germany could stand against the 'communist threat'.
Please get your facts straight. Germany, England and America are NOT everyone. And those were the only ones seeing anything good about him.
I will gladly honor the people who defended their contry, how ever "small" a war it might have been. Just because it did not involv US or other huge contries, does not make it a small things for those who lived it.
It´s a matter of perspective, and some people need to get out of their own arses.
