Whether or not he's a miserable little pile of secrets.
My life's an open book, but that's not to say I don't have secrets. I have plenty. Everyone does. You wouldn't survive if you didn't keep some things secret.
Was a reference to one of the greatest dialogues in a video game ever.
* Richter Belmont: Die monster! You don't belong in this world!
* Dracula: It was not by my hand that I am once again given flesh. I was called here by humans who wish to pay me tribute.
* Richter Belmont: Tribute? You steal men's souls, and make them your slaves!
* Dracula: Perhaps the same could be said of all religions.
* Richter Belmont: Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill-needs a savior such as you!
* Dracula: What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk...have at you!

I would say someone has matured when they have enough confidence to act on their own and trust themselves enough to take responsibility for what they do.

A man bases his manhood on the experiances of that he has lived. A man has gatherd knowledge that he is able to use in life altering decisions, and is able to share this knowledge with his peers. The ability to form ideas, theories, as well as be able to make tough decisions.
Right, and when does one know when they've gathered enough knowledge, shared enough knowledge, and made enough decisions to call himself a man?
Its not about when someone can call himself a man. Its about when others can call him a man.
