Right, many of the addons I have do have separate configs, which I keep off unless playing around with the UI. What I have noticed, however, is that some addons with config portions (separate or otherwise) do seem to consistently use more resources while enabled, but not being used. The load-on-demand types are fine and obvious by the game hiccup when you open the config, but many addons of the addons with a separate config have shown a performance improvement when I disabled the config.
Now, obviously, this isn't an issue for addons with a separate config...as I said, I keep them off, and save on the resources in the case that they're using resources regardless, it's more about those that don't have a separate config "addon."
However, I should probably have simply left that out of my post...while saving resources is always a plus, it's not really the main concern...I was more thinking about simplicity (within my addon folder) and portability. (I play on a couple different computers.)
So, disregarding concerns with performance, etc...is the consolidation of addons (a la TukUI) completely possible regardless of addons used?

sure it's possible.
tukui is the best example, layout is done through oUF and oUF caellian, cooldowns are basically omnicc re-written, bags also follow this way.
ofc there is much orginal work, but if you have the skills, you can do the same thing starting from already exsisting addons.

Is it surprising or sad that people who post typically don't have GearScore?

Portability is the main reason, OCD is another. I play on multiple computers, and having my UI and its configuration all in a single addons would make it extremely easy to spread across multiple computers, without the profile, WTF and addon folder settings, etc. For some reason, it never seems to turn out completely the way I want. I mean, of course it's possible to do it, the same way people publish their compilations containing all the addons they use, but why not just make it simpler, if I knew how?
Not to mention, I share and swap computers with my girlfriend (laptop, desktop, other laptop, etc.) so it just complicates things with addon enabling, profile selecting, etc. Even though I pick "Character Specific" when I set up addons, it always seems to enable/disable someone else's, change someone else's in some way. With this, my UI would be the single addon, and hers would be the rest (or possibly another UI consolidation.)
The other big reason is that the big list of addons bothers me.

Absolutely. My plan is to keep a backup of the UI as a whole, with the addons separate, in case I ever need to make changes, then update the necessary elements whenever the situation arises.
Above else, put simply, I enjoy doing things like that.

La ringrazio molto.
^^ to be precise, the use of the third person is needed only when talking with very important persons, so a "ti" would have been better :P

Ah, Google translate failed me, I knew it!
Is it specifically "important" people, or could it also be construed as being very polite?
