The TG Nerf - 1h Fury Back Again?

I think the point is that it doesn't matter whether or not pure DPS classes doing more DPS makes sense from a design philosophy (it does) but the road Blizzard has taken.
Here's the problem....it's not the road they've taken....when's the last time I've seen a rogue at the top of the dps charts? I don't even remember, and I know some pretty geared rogues. why are kitty druids doing more dps than the enhancement shammies i know? Aren't they both hybrids? As I was trying to say before this mystical "5% more dmg" is just that. Yes some classes do more dps than others, and yes some are pure dps classed, but say that is a game design doesn't really fit with the facts.

Player generated numbers to an extent can't really be trusted
Well then we're pretty much @#$%ed. If we can't base anything off of the actual numbers flashing across the screen, then the game becomes nothing more than a theory-crafter's paradise.
...subjective...
Exactly my point.
But hey! I hear there is a new MMO called World of Elitist Jerks where nothing is subjective....rogues always and for all times do 5% more damge then Fury Warriors.
Homogenization of DPS isn't something I think we really want.
Rly? you think I want to be #10 on the list when I dps with my shaman, warrior, DK, or pally? There is a reason I work my ass off trying to get the best enchants, gems, and gear...and guess what? It's not to buff up my totems! It's to increase my dps. The point isn't that every one has the exact same dps and you look at the meters and see one block of bars. The point is that if I'm dpsing on my shaman who I'm working hard to make the best dpser I can, I want to have a chance to shine doing what I'm good at (dpsing).

I don't know if you've ever played a class like shaman end-game, but to a lot of people we're just totem *!@#$s. Now sometimes that can be a good thing, and can get you a spot in a raid you are not geared for. Most of the time however, it goes the other way. Back when I was playing enhancement I can't tell you how many times I wasn't let into raids because "we already have an enhancement shaman." And I can't really blame them....if we're just totem &*!@#s, what's the point of taking more than 1 enhancement shaman? But are there ever too many hunters? I've been in 25-mans with 9 hunters. And I can't really blame them...hunters are dps %^&*!s.
That's why I don't buy all Blizzard's crap about "bringing the player not the class."
And I'll state this point again, even though it's been said over and over. When I bring my warrior or shaman to a raid to dps, it's to dps. Yes, next week, or even and hour from now I might be tanking/healing, but does that have any impact on the here and now? This fight, this pull, I want to beat the heck out of anyone in my way. I love competing for top dps, that's the only thing that makes dpsing even remotely fun.
Edit: god i hate filters...makes it so hard to make a point :P

This nerf is retarted.
Thank you for your insight, very original and compelling argument.

Here is my big question. While we will be seeing a 10% reduction in dps, Zerk stance will also see a 5% increase in str. Now, couple that with the increased Armour Penetration (AP) that will be seeing, do these two factors help to mitigate the 10% dps nerf?
I would think, to some extent, it would. Most definitely the AP buff benefits arms warriors the most but with some re-itemization, re-gemming and re-enchants, we would be able to overcome this.
I played a hunter (and still do) so I am very familiar with the buff / nerf cycle, and it makes no sense to me how bilzz does it. I know I am rambling a bit here, but they buff us by removing the 10% hit penalty - what ...2 patches ago, and the blows our dps up. Now they see we are owning the dps charts and so they decrease our damage by 10%? It makes no damn sense.
But back to the point, I think that while this nerf hits pretty hard, it can be overcome. Especially with the 5% buff to str from zerk. Think about how this will increase your str, especially when you use the Darkmoon Card: Greatness.
For me, it's really a question of how much AP do we need before it becomes an effective means of increasing dps (especially since all T8 gear has AP on it).

literacy or politically correct language
You know...i really shouldn't bash you over the head with your own words, but hey I haven't slept in 40 hrs. This could be a little fun.
OK, the second accusation first. I am the most politically incorrect person you'll probably ever meet, heck name one thing that I've said that has been politically correct. Correct grammar/logic has nothing at all to do with political correctness. Lemme hunt around for a definition....
...well, believe it or not I think wikipedia has the clearest definition: Political correctness (adjectivally, politically correct; both forms commonly abbreviated to PC) is a term applied to language, ideas, policies, or behavior seen as seeking to minimize offense to gender, racial, cultural, disabled, aged or other identity groups.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm no racist, sexist, or whatever; I just don't believe that language can be "authoritatively" censored. If I say something that categorizes people, it's not because I believe that category to be inferior or greater than any other. Take the pronoun "he" for example. It is becoming more and more politically incorrect to use the inclusive "he" (ie to refer to both men and women)...just because I do use "he" to refer to both sexes does not make me a sexist.
OK, hopefully that's squared away. Now back to the first accusation, that I use my literacy to make a point. First of all, literacy--as I'm
sure
you know--is the ability to read/write. So really that makes absolutely no sense. Now if you would have said "my eloquence" (if you're try to refer to my language mastery =D) or "my sophistry" ( if you're trying to refer to my ability to manipulate people's minds =D), then you would have sounded half-way intelligent.
As I said...40 hr with no sleep, so if nothing I just said makes any sense, then save it for when you have to pull 2 all-nighters in row....by the third day it'll make perfect sense.
Shaman, druids, paladins were all intended to be hybrid classes in the first place, to supplement the other class roles. gtfoi, and move on.
So you think it's ok that 9 hunters go on the raid, but only 1 enhancement shaman is allowed?

My apologies, he can throw together 4 letter words as well as any 8yo I've seen to date, and still make vague sense.
gtfoi
You're the only one throwing together words as far as I can see...and it's 5 letters by the way....
