cause they expect everyone that logs into WoW to already know what the do...
i feel bad when a new person asks a question and everyone starts bashing the person cause he's a "noob"
i try to help out whenever i can, whisper what i know...i'll even look up the answer here, thottbot, wowwiki (i got my laptop next to me, which i use for that, listen to music, browse the web, etc)
everyone was there at one point, some might be from another MMO game, but they were there...just hope when you hit the higher level, you dont become like them ;)

You know there is a really big difference between a Noob and a Newb. That.
I always bash noobs. ALWAYS. As for newbs I may help them if I'm in good mood, or just ignore them.

Lulz, i hope ur not lvl 80 and asking that question. From the other 79 lvls, you should be able to know about arenas and gearing up.
I levelled on a PvE server.
I have 6 honor kills on my paladin.
I have NEVER step foot in a BG on that character.
Why should I know about PvP just because Im 80?
Particularly seeing as the 10-19 bracket is "twinklol" as is 20-29, and 30-39.

i get this sort of abuse i was riding through westfall ( boosting a friend in DM) when i came across someone almost dying againts mobs two levels below them they obviously didnt know how to play their class/the game so i ran up whilst waiting for my friend to catch up i helped him to kill the mobs attacking me he then whispered me : to say thankyou no. to say "gimme sum gold!" i then said "no" so i was abused for about 20 minutes "ignored-reported!" WTF is some ppl problem!

Lulz, i hope ur not lvl 80 and asking that question. From the other 79 lvls, you should be able to know about arenas and gearing up. Hell, i learned about pvp gear my first 20 lvls.
Why?
I know the attributes of PVP gear, doesn't really require a lot more then common knowledge to understand that. But as I leveled to 80 I've just taken the gear quests gave me. Nothing on this path had mentioned 'arena'.

First off, just because its a PvE server doesnt mean theres no pvp. So that claim is $%^&ing stupid.
No, but there is way less PvP.
Second, i lvled a character on a pve server and there are hundreds of opportunities to learn about pvp gear so easily.
Yes, if you look for them. If you just level there is slim to none, especially on a PvE server.
Yeh once u hit 80, you should be a fully functioning WoW player. Thats why blizz has 79 other levels to keep the $%^&tards out.
And id expect something like that from a paladin.
Really? Proove it.
I've seen a mere few quests saying 'here is a battleground, we fight hordes here. Go win this battle.', for example in Hillsbrad - i think. Guilds? Not more then a note saying 'Guilds exist.'. Arenas? Nothing.

First off, just because its a PvE server doesnt mean theres no pvp. So that claim is $%^&ing stupid.
1) FAR less world PvP
2) Less emphasis on Arena and BGs -> teams tend to have lower ratings on average
3) pre-80 PvP is twink dominated
Second, i lvled a character on a pve server and there are hundreds of opportunities to learn about pvp gear so easily.
Such as? It was entirely possible to go from 1-80 without stepping foot in WSG, Hammerfall or Arathi Highlands, and even easier now.
If someone sees PvP gear, odds are its going to be on an 80, and pre-80 epics are impressive and "unobtainable" if you are a new player
Yeh once u hit 80, you should be a fully functioning WoW player.
I kind of agree with this, but not entirely. 80 is far from the end of a player's development as a player.
The real "@#$%tards" as you so eloquently put it are the ones who hit 80 and think they have mastered EVERYTHING.
Thats why blizz has 79 other levels to keep the $%^&tards out.
Lack of experience =/= bad player
See above as to why. Ive done heroics with a freshly dinged healer Id been levelling with and overtaken a bit, and he had less difficulty than "full epix omguber heelz".
And id expect something like that from a paladin.
I used my paladin as an example, Im not a PvP player, my oldest toon has around 2k HKs. My choice of character was to illustrate the point that HKs and PvP are independant from levelling.
Oh, by the way, my pally was started in 2.3 (and has been prot since 10) and I dont have a DK, so lets not go down the FotM path.

Like it was said before, yeah, the internet brings out the inner jerk in many people. So here's my advice, never talk in general, trade, or any other public channels. You may get tempted to however it is a good way of getting someone to decide to pick on you.
I have to disagree. Dealing with the idiots in general chat is a good way to learn how to deal with the social aspects of the game. I mean, if you can't handle people being jerks in regular chat, what are you going to do if you get into a PUG and people want to be rude? Or if you have disagreements with people in your guild's chat?
My advice is to go ahead and speak up, even if people give you attitude for it. If people are rude, you can either ignore them, or simply roll with it and play it off. If you never say anything, you're never going to meet anyone. Though I will say that if you can, try looking stuff up on wowhead or wowwiki first, to try and cut down on the really "noob"ish questions.

Why should he know? I have 3 level 80 characters and never done any arena and only a few BGs when bored. PVP does not interest me. If I suddenly decided I wanted to do serious PVP I would need to ask. Luckily I could just ask friends or guildies but if I didn't have that I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a civil answer to a question in general chat.

Oh the irony of someone posting an abusive response to perfectly reasonable post in a thread asking why people are so abusive...
