Have not
.
I can honestly say I have
never
heard of that word. :P
I HAVE NOW.
Not that it matters, because you see everything I say as an attack on you.
Some things are unacceptable to me. That hurts feelings. Ironically, people are unaccepting of views that are not universally accepting.

I think that's where you'd have your problem, if you find that you're not fitting in. I'm not accepting of other people's views, I'm accepting of them as people and their capacity and right to understand the world as they understand it. I try not to be presumptuous by assuming that they share my world view and therefore must come to the same conclusions as me. And I also realize that the best way to come to concord with someone is to step into their shoes, to educate myself and try to understand what such a world view means, and how I can help the understand things from my side. So even if I believe the exact opposite things as someone, I can still communicate and relate to them, and I can still be their friend and help and understand them, and they can be sure that I well do my best to help them understand me.
That's my long spiel. I hope it can help you.

That sounds great. When you reach conclusions, some people will hate you, no matter what you think of them as people.

Allow me to elaborate some. I love Elaus. I love Elura. I love vikey. I love Patty, and Adamsm, and skyfire, and all of the users here I am familiar with. I truely do, in the most platonic and meaningful sense of the word. I think they are really funny, and intelligent, and great people. However, they do things that I do not approve of. Since their actions have my vocal disapproval, they feel that I disapprove of them. Nothing will change that. We will never get along because anything I say will be despised (see Patty's response above). It makes me sad, because this place really could be a community of great people in amicable dispute. I'm not welcome. Neither is anybody who finds fault in the actions of others.

So then you treat people with hostility instead? That doesn't seem to be a very logical conclusion. I've never really looked at it as whether they hate me or not. To me it's more a matter of can I deal with them and accept them despite what I might perceive as hate.

From what I just saw here (sorry I'm new so I don't really know you or your relation with everyone here) it wasn't your beliefs at all, it was the judgmental attitude your post radiated, and you got a judgmental attitude right back.

Ding, ding, we have a winner. ^^ Not to mention the conclusion is pretty much based on assumptions. :P

I'd have to disagree there MyTie; I dislike some of what you post, but out of all the debaters here, you are still one of the best ones, and are far superior to HSR; at least you'll agree that it isn't one way or the highway.

I would like to know who these 10-15 people dominating the off-topic are. I'm sure the list will be most amusing.
Anyway, MyTie - I think you assume that people disapprove of you too quickly. I know many people on this board (although I'll willingly admit I don't know the opinions of everyone) very much appreciate your contributions to most of the discussions you participate in, since you write the most amazing and well thought-out posts. If you act with hostility towards people who you
think
disapprove of you, however, you'll get nothing but hostility back.
Sure, many people need to grower a thicker skin, but that's the way things are.

It seems the responses to my viewpoint is that the hostility I feel I've received is perceived hostility, rather than true hostility. I might buy that, if I were the only receiver. However, I've seen too many other people receive hostility without reason. Perhaps I've not always been the nicest person (ok, I know), but this place is more like a boxing ring than it is a circle of friends.
