The Poet and the Pendulum is a work of art imo.
It is a fantastic song, except for the second half where she starts talking about being raped. I was just: "Meh."
The beginning is amazing though.

The awesome thing about Ash Wednesday is walking outside and having people stare at you.

Never heard Nightwish, Hammerfall is practically identical to Dragonforce for all practical purposes :/.
Never heard Nightwish
Never
What.
Here's
one
or
two
songs. My personal favorites.
Your yourself have probably told me about them, but it just doesn't really stick. I guess when it comes to Fantasy-Speed Metal, it all just seems like very different versions of the same thing.
I really can't take any type of metal that uses the Lord-of-the-Rings gibberish-epic-stuff seriously.

Yes, as lyrical content is
EVERYTHING
for a song. On that note, what about the Iron Maiden song Powerslave? It's about Egyptian pharaohs, yes?

... you fail genres forever.

I call genre's what they sound like. Fantasy-Metal works just as well.
I personally don't like Powerslave though, as it turns out.
Edit: Not to say I'm not a tiny bit hypocritical, but I just don't like a band that doesn't have at least one song that is supposed to connect to the real world and not just sound epic.

Not really. That is just, once again, describing the
content of the lyrics
. Which doesn't matter at all. Musical style is what matters.

That's @#$%ing stupid. That's all I can say. There's a reason why I listen to many different bands. I like bands that have realism in their songs (Collective Soul, Jimmy Eat World, Muse, etc) and I like bands that have full fantasy elements, because that's what I prefer.
And seriously, another thing that pisses me off whenever anyone does it. Just because somebody doesn't like your favorite band doesn't mean the world is ending, but by the same token, if you don't like something somebody else likes that doesn't mean it sucks.
Just had to get that out there.

Kick ass, I like your taste in music.
But I have to say,
I'm a NIN fan at heart.

Both matter. Genre is describing a style. I consider Tool and System of a Down and Nirvana, which sound as far apart as can be, to overlap into a certain 'genre' of very reality-grounded music that works through a lot of word-play and analogies and is a very literate. Because those that's a style that all three bands share.

You're taking this way too offensively, I'm explaining why I dislike the bands you listed, not why they suck.

Maybe. I use ' they suck' and 'I dislike' pretty interchangeably. I don't consider 'they suck' to be on the same level of 'they're bad musicians/are mentally disable/whatnot.'

Yes Queggy. NetHack is one of my favorite games. I've played it for about 4 years now, and I still haven't beaten it.
I suggest you read this comic.

"They suck" is a term implying lack of talent.
