There are certain classes that are required to graduate from high school, and that doesn't even take preparation for college into account.

Laihendi is right. I am unable to understand the complexities of the courses taught in high school, or how to communicate that knowledge to my kids. I'm now convinced that public education is the only way.

You can't teach honors and AP classes for all subjects just because you graduated high school.
You don't know everything.

If I don't know it inside my head, I am unable to find the answers. I HAVE to take a class in order to learn.

I'm amazed at how closed minded you are at this. I understand that college is useful, but you think it is a requirement to be knowledgeable.

To Laihendi and MyTie:
This is one pitiful debate. You are both bringing up awful points multiple times.
That is all.
Between MyTie and Laihendi.... dangerous.

This isn't a debate, this is one guy saying that because he graduated high school he can teach AP level courses, and another guy telling him he's wrong.

You have no idea what the difference is between qualified and able.

Are you aware that a good high school teacher (for advanced level courses) spends hours after school, as well as several hours on days off from school preparing their material, including lessons plans, notes for lectures, etc... for one class?
Laihendi's parents both teach, one in grade school, one in college. He understands the education system pretty well.

Now I understand. Stupid arch nemesis thinks he can do something just as good as mummy and daddy. We'll he can't, because mummy and daddy went to college. That means that they know better than him....
The picture is now complete.

Or maybe you should just accept the fact that you don't know everything?

I never said that I did. I am very unknowledgeable at a lot of things. That doesn't mean that I can't teach K-12. Even IF my children had to rely on JUST my knowledge and resources alone, they would still do ok. I utilize all the resources of the school district. My daughter's work is graded by the teachers AND by her parents. We do the teaching, and she is compared to the other students. I'm gonna give you a guess here... Who do you think usually scores higher?

Your daughter is also still in elementary school. Things change in middle school... especially in high school when students are expected to take honors and AP courses in order to get accepted into colleges.

You have not done your
research
! Don't they teach you anything in school?
The Wall Street Journal:
Many colleges now routinely accept homeschooled students, who typically present “portfolios” of their work instead of transcripts.
Edit: I wish I still had a paper I typed in one of my classes on 'The Psychology of Homeschooling'. That one knocked the socks off my teacher.

Fine, think what you want. Your life, your family. Laihendi has presented his argument, and you choose to ignore it.
