- Runes operate like Runes on a DK.
- Since no armor can be worn, as you level higher your Runes develop into some sort of protective armor, or your Runes can activate so they develop a natural armor.
- Only Fist Weapons and Unarmed can be used.
- Certain runes give certain buffs to yourself or the group.
- Currently, only Tauren and Dwarf can be RMs, since they have already mastered the art.
wow, got to be most...cheap class to ever be:O no need for armour, only can use fist or none? na i see this as bad concept.....riped runemaster lore and stolen the "monk" class setup just take chi and call it rune
beside, if they not need gear...what they suppose to do after grinded the fist?

I don't know why, but this seems like an idea for another class, rather than a
hero
class. The whole idea of a hero class is that they were once heroes of the Alliance/Horde. I'm interested to know how you'd link a former hero to the life of a runemaster.
Simple, they retired after the recent wars since it takes time to master.
Weapons that work well with this theme:
Blunt weapons: Staves, maces, fist weapons.
Quick weapons: daggers, one handed weapons.
How armor could work:
Runes glow through the armor.
Access to cloth and leather armor, which are light, and hence fits into the theme.
Mana, Runes, Energy or rage?
A combination of runes and mana would work, runes being used basically to recharge mana at times.
Stats: instead of attack power, relies on spell power: why?
They rely on Ley Lines, magic, to amplify their strengths.
Use on hit effects like a paladin's seals and instant attacks.
A bit of channeling or cast spells can work - can also work with healing spells.
Three trees I can see being possible:
Ley-Lines: lower white damage, higher on hit, relies on being passive.
Physical: Improves instant attacks and white damage.
Spiritual: Cast and channeling buffs, Healing and DPS'ing - ranged.

Yes, because warriors, paladins, mages, priests, warlocks, rogues hunters, druids and death knights were so original.
/end sarcasm
It's not about how original you can make it, but how possible it is to implement is without overlapping too much imo.

So cloth items with agility? That would be funny
Well, as I stated, it would make more sense if their strength came from the Ley-lines, or SP.
This is much more practical that making new gear imo.

This is probably a realistic depiction of what may be to come. After having so many melee classes, a caster Hero is not too far fetched, imo.
