The lesser of two evils (Resto talents)

I'm having some difficulty nailing a final talent spec for my (now resto) shaman. At the moment I'm sporting
this talent spec
(armory seems to be down currently).
But I've been told by an in-game friend (who happens to be pretty experienced) that
Mana Tide Totem
was a staple talent back in the day (early BC).
I'm hovering just shy of 300 mp5 (while casting) self-buffed (elixir + food), which I've found to be about the sweet spot. Any more than 300 is overkill in all but the longest fights, and any less and I run out of mana. Unfortunately, being just short, I'm running out on fights like Grobbulus and any heroics where the group is taking a lot of damage.
My question is, is Mana Tide Totem worth the 6 points? To be honest I'm not entirely sure where I'd even take them from.
Any pointers on using Resto talents would be appreciated. Hopefully there are some experienced resto shamans who can answer my call. :)

you need the threat reduction and the silence reduction? or that 1 point in imp reincarnation?
I'd be taking them from there. Mana Tide isnt all about you, its VERY solid for other mana users in your party/raid

You tell me. I'm looking for pointers, not claiming I have the perfect spec.
The silence and threat reduction I've "felt" like were being useful, because occasionally I will draw aggro, or get silenced on some fights. Both are beneficial, but maybe not worthwhile.
Imp reincarnation was just a spare point. That's not essential at all.

if your pulling aggro, your tank sucks.

I quite often PuG heroics, so I have no control over the skill of the tank.

get a good guild, do runs with them.
Tanks shouldnt be able to lose aggro in WotLK

Thanks varai, your words are insightful. I'll probably use that last point you have in Shamanstic Focus and put it on Enhancing Totems, for the extra SP on Flametongue Totem.
Contrary to what you seem to think, you DO have control over the skill of the tank...and it's called leaving the group. It sounds like some crazy asshattery, but some people just deserve it.
Just last night myself and two guildies "pugged" a tank and DPSer for H DTK. This particular warrior tank was putting out ~400 dps, and going by his achievments it was only his second heroic instance.
We cut him some slack because he was polite enough (a rare thing these days in pugs), but he really struggled. We came close to wipe a few times on the first few pulls. Funnily enough though, boss fights were a piece of cake.
Back on topic, I'll definitely give
this new build
a run for a while and see how it feels.
EDIT: Correct, this is for PvE only. No PvP for this little black duck. Ick.

be warned though, with an ele shaman in your group, FTT is COMPLETELY useless

Cheers for the heads up. Being previously specced elemental I'd noticed that they don't stack. Major bummer.

it might be more useful to put that 1 point in imp defensive totems, with an enh shammy or DK in your group putting down SotE Totem is also useless

Mana-tide was very useful for me tonight. 22 minute Heigan the Unclean fight. -_-
Only three of us knew where the quarters were and I died once due to lag. 1 Reincarnation,2 Mana Tides and 2 heroisms in one fight.
