Do hatefuls hit people with the highest max/total health, or is it the person with the highest health in general. For instance, if I take a hit and get down to 20k health, but my melee has a max health of 21k, will he take the next hareful instead of me?

They hit the person with the highest current health. Max health doesn't matter as far as targeting is concerned.

yes, thats why healers need to keep you guys(tanks) topped off, and thats why dps jumps into the green stuff to lower their health because he doesent do any other kind aoe damage.
edit: dident notice max health -> meant hp currently had

Very, very
wrong
. Hateful Strike ignores the first person on threat and then hits the person with the
highest current health
of the 2nd (and 3rd if it's 25 man) after the MT.
Wrong, wrong and wrong again.
Hateful Strike - Patchwerk will use this ability every 1 second, hitting the person with highest health in melee range for 27,750 to 32,250 physical damage, mitigated by armor, and possible do dodge, block or parry. This ability also adds threat to the top 2 people in Patchwerk's threat table.
That's what Wowhead says. Threat doesn't matter, only health.
