Even though I have been pro dual spec for the longest time, I actually thought about this implementation in the game at this point.
Here are the reasons why I think that dual spec is a bad idea:
1. I am a healer and the other healers out there will be able to vouch for this. I sign onto my healer because I like to raid for the majority of the part. And when I enter LFG I get into a group in less then a minute. Now when dual spec will kill this... luxury.
Too bad for you. =) ha ha.
2. As a part of my first statement there will be a bunch of... "unskilled" player trying to heal a heroic run without the experience and/or gear. There will be plenty of wipes that are not needed. A gear doesn't make the healer unlike some other roles in the game.
The game is not balanced around PUGs.
3. Gear is the most important part. With the implementation of spell power in wrath. I see gear being passed out to people who do not know they're class and what they need it a peace of gear. With dual spec people will want to role on other sets that are not they're 'main'. How will 'pugs' know if that is you're main spec or if you are ever that spec once in you're life.
I'm too sleepy to answer to this. The only thing I can say is: Retards are always retards, and the game cannot be balanced around retards.

The argument that gear defines players is flawed,
Skill
is always more important than
Gear
.
So if I rotate perfectly on my lvl 80 rogue with all level 1-20 white items I will do better dps then a sp with full epics who occasionally misses a dot? Hurray for my poorly geared guild (sarcasm indeed).
Gear is often an indication of skill, if you see a dpsdonkey pugging a heroic and has a def-item equipped, that person is probably a total moron. If he/she says: Can I need on tank stuff? I see why, but I would politely tell the person to put that item in his bank and go find a new group. Skill is of course incredibly incredibly important, else none would have cleared all those heroic raids already or been on top of the pvp ladder.
Questing/dailys as a healer:
I don't know how you guys/girls or any other person farms/dailys etc with your healers, but I've had a my healer for a long time and I can't seem to find the hassle that you speak of. I only had 1600 healing pre-wrath and even at 1200 when I started heroics I could quest etc without any problem. If it's so impossible, why do people level as holy and/or not switch to dps gear when out of pvp/pve?

The change will be great. If you are a great healer, then others will remember that.
I'm a huge fan of the addon doiknowyou, and I always remark the quality of my fellow group members if it is exceptional or terrible.
Secondly welcome to our world (dedicated dps) we have to work hard to be remembered, there is by far no shortage of dps, hopefully now there will be no shortage of tanks or healers either.

Bad people exist...everywhere. Theres a reason I prefer tanking 5-mens myself over a PuG tank(and 90% of the time ITS CHEAPER :o) Dual specs won't change this at al
Al I know is fury is fun in raids, awsome even, competing on the damagemeter with everyone having some fun, after the raid it's quite boring unles you wanne farm. So at 70 I always respecced.
I often had weeks where I spended 700g/week on respecs.
Now I can do the best of 2 things, gathering a tankset as a tank and keeping my spot as a DPS in heroic Naxx without losing al my dfamn money.

I think dual Spec will "save" the game.
Currently many people stay only DPS spec because they have the most opportunities as a DPS. 25mans are mostly DPS, same with 10 and 5s. DPS are also generally the best in PvP. Giving players the ability to change from DPS to tank or heal will greatly increase the number of healers and tanks available at any given time.
Yes some will be inexperienced at first, but aren't we all? Yea, they won't have from level 1-79 to learn how to heal or keep aggro, but there are simple, easy to follow general guides here on Wowhead, among other sites, to help them get started and get the hang of it to start. Plus, how many healers or tanks leveled to 80 purely in their healing or tanking spec? At various points on my druid I have been Resto, Balance and Feral while leveling. I even picked up feral for a while at 80 and was able to tank heroics after spending some gold on the craft-able gear.
Any person can learn a new role in a group very easily if they take a little bit of time to do the research. So I don't think Dual Specs will ruin WoW at all, I think it will greatly increase the playability of the game at max level.

well the dual spec sounds great to me i can just get out of disc healer and go shadow so i can lvl in peace:) or go holy heal my raid then come back to disc 4 tank healing and group healing . i can already tell i'll be disc 50% of the time i love disc:)
well noobs will be noobs of course and in pugs noobs will take your spots so if your worried about that just get experienced at your fave spec of your fave class and get in a good guild and or pug some groups so those people will know your good tank/heal/dps thatys what i doing im just having fun, healing pugs, and helping my new guild im doing good so far i have only failed at healing once on my new server why idk i guess that day was not my day lol.
i can't wait since i will be very viable now at priest since im pretty good at being one( not trying to brag) just gotta get a nice pvp set, shadow set, holy healing set,and some more inttelect on my disc stuff:) lol my bags and bank will be filled if this happens!
i just feel sorry for the poor groups that will make me tank im the most horrible freakin tank there is lmao im so used to healing i just can't do it im too used to running from agro and watching the health bars ive healed so much i suck at killing single mobs now with my priest lol. onetime on my warrior i just woke up and i bought morning glory dew because im on my priest everytime im on wow and thought i needed it for mana i bought about 75 before i realized it was my warrior rofl!

After all, if rour going to roll a new toon, whay wouldn't you roll one that that can paly any aspect of the game you want it to?
Because people might prefer how the "pure dps" classes are played. I have a hunter alt which I love to play with. My druid alt got stuck on level 14 because I just didn't like the class. For some this feature might cause them to switch, but for those who enjoy their class it wont make a difference.

If I had a dollar for everything someone claimed would kill the game since WoW launched, I'd be playing for free by this point.
Dual spec will make a lot of people happy. A LOT.

I don't see the cons of the Dual-Spec system. Even without it, people can respec and go heal, or tank, or dps and fail. This just makes it cheaper.
If you get someone who is a crappy healer, you can normally find out they suck within the first wipe or two. Anything further is your own fault for staying with them. You can see if dps sucls with a damage meter. You can see if a tank sucks if they lose aggro to often when they shouldn't have a problem with it.
If you don't want to wipe due to crappy players, don't pug. Join a decent guild and run with them only.

Seems to be good for hybrids bad for pure classes (pve wise).
I disagree, I have 2 level 80 pures (my only 2 level 80s), and I'd love to be able to make alternative pet tank specs and such with my second talent tree.

There are
three
four things certain in life:
1. death
2. taxes
3. man's determination to avoid both
4. whenever something new is introduced for Wow someone will make a thread how it will 'kill the game'.
