Nerfs are nerfs nothing new.

This makes the best holy paladin in the world cry.
So they give priests better AOE healing, and nerf the &*!@ out of our primary regeneration method.
Game on.

You think that priests aren't getting their mana regen nerfed too or something? They are taking away what was one of the fundamentals of priest and druid playstyle, the buffs to priest aoe healing are for the most part just fixing their ability to do heavy duty aoe healing in a targetable fashion that was taken away with the coh 'nerf'. Priests are fine right now but I'm betting they intend for some heavy aoe encounters where prayer of mending, renew, and a party only aoe heal just aren't going to cut it so it makes absolute sense to do what they are doing, it's just fixing things in a new way...but taking away the fun of trying to get ooc so you can regen and instead putting us on a 'fixed income' similar to paladins doesn't mesh with the way priest healing spells work very well (or at least how they work now, but why overhaul a class thats working fine and is fun?).
I'm probably just getting a case of chicken little (and I know I'm prone to it) but I don't like the way the post about regen changes sounded AT ALL for any healer, but trust me pallies aren't getting bit in the behind by the proposed change as badly as priests and druids. For my paladin I just have to watch which buff+debuff moves I pop when-the mechanics aren't changing just the numbers, for my priest one of the fundamental mechanics (and one that I like) is getting removed and who knows what it will be like after.

...At least we all get Kings now, eh? d(:D)b

A lot of Protection changes. The change to Exorcism is a pretty big buff, and a welcome one at that. I'm thinking it's right in the 5% buff range on a normal mob, based on my recent WWS runs in Naxx.
Blessing of Kings as baseline has been long overdue. Glad that they're doing it.

Guarded by the Light – no longer reduces the mana cost of shield spells, but now has a 50/100% chance to refresh Divine Plea duration.
Refresh?
On what?
The fk?

I think it might be their way to offset the changes to SA they are intending to bring in so that only Ret and Holy's regen is affected.
(I think what it means is that the talant will now allow shield spells to refresh the Divine Plea buff on yourself instead of reducing their mana cost)

Divine Plea
last for 15sec does that mean when low on mana we pop this then spam
Shield of Righteousness
when possible off CD? this really doesnt effect us much sinc as prot we dont heal. just got to time the rotation to where Divine Plea doesnt fall off. But i think they will notice this and poss increase the CD of Shield of Righteousness.. i hope not.
They couldn't increase the CD of SoR without severely buffing prot DPS/TPS elsewhere to compensate.
The idea is intentional: because of nerfs to other forms of regeneration, the constant DP (heh) is to compensate Protection when it comes to mana regen.

I want to believe. All of the changes for Prot seem very nice, but I somehow doubt that the ShoR silence will make it to live because that would just be too helpful. On top of the fact that with the other silences they're adding, we could pretty much keep somebody silenced until DR starts to kick in, and you know there will be whining and complaining because we can.
Edit: Also, woo-hoo at reclaiming 10 or so talent points, lol.

I'll admit it, the notes made me half chub and giddy inside.
Now what to do with all those extra talent points... Perhaps cookie-cutterize PoJ?
The plot thickens...

I as a main tank for my guild &*!@ my pants when I saw this.
I will admit some of this is looking op and prolly be nerfed before it see the light of day. But this is a good sign that blizz is working on prot's many weaknesses.

All mana recovery is getting nerfed, so it isn't Holy being targeted in specific - it's healers across the board being forced to make more choices regarding their mana pools.
On the Prot side of things, this is going to leave some BIG gaps in the tree. BoK, outta there - 5 slots. Reduced ranks for Imp HoJ - 1-2 slots. Reduced ranks for Ardent Defender - 2-3 slots. Reduced ranks for 1H specialization - 2-3 slots.
My question becomes - what's going to get put there? It's already one of few trees without a defining 11-point talent, and NO tree has a single talent on the first tier.

This will make Prot a lot more viable in PvP too... a lot better mana recovery along with a silence. Looks good to me.
