There is no minimum/optimal/recommended hit rating. Get whatever increases your dps.

Well, there's gotta be a bare minimum value.. ZA was recommended to have at least 250, and rogues weren't taken in if their hit was poor
This isn't BC anymore. Hit rating != dps.

Can anyone say sticky?
Also, the forums have a cool search feature where you could have found the answer to this question.
No one checks a rogue's hit anymore. Hit cap of 9% is only critical for people wielding slow two handed weapons like DKs and Retadins (from my observations). If you are muti daggers, any hit rating above 215 with a decent crit chance (28% or so) will give you pretty good results with fast/fast daggers.
But check a spreadsheet for answers for your toon. ;)

long story short: (from EJ)
Hit Caps:
Lvl 80 0/5 Precision:
Mob level Specials White Poisons
80 164 787 105
81 181 804 132
82 197 820 158
83+ 296 919 446
Lvl 80 5/5 Precision:
Mob level Specials White Poisons
80 0 623 0
81 17 640 0
82 33 656 27
83+ 132 755 315
Level 80 5/5 precision with Imp Faerie Fire or Misery on your target:
Mob level Specials White Poisons
80 0 623 0
81 17 640 0
82 33 656 0
83+ 132 755 0
Expertise Caps:
0/2 Weapon Expertise - 214
1/2 Weapon Expertise - 173
2/2 Weapon Expertise - 132
so as you can see, you should be shooting for the soft poison cap, which is currently 315 with 5/5 precision, and 446 without precision. if you have an Spriest or Druid in you raid and 5/5 precision, the soft cap goes down significantly. after you reach the soft cap, you should be itemizing for other stats, since they give a greater DPS boost once you reach the poison hit cap.

the point is, until you have (around) 315 hit rating, a certain amount of hit rating will be more valuable than a comparable amount of agi, crit, AP, haste, or ArPen.

Actually, nothing in the post you copied states that you should be shooting for the poison cap.

As i've recently tested, even running around with 150 hit can dish out 3.5k+ DPS in 10man raid gear. So i'm totally with KidB on this one
