IMO I like my spec. I do about 2500 dps in raids. Tanked everything up to Malygos.
Give it a whirl...

why would you take predatory instincts and not improved mangle?
And are you talking about putting out alot of damage when in bear form or being able to Cat form DPS and also tank?

I see alot of different ideas here, Mine isn't too much different but my raiding spec is
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0ZxGGsfbzceRccuAo0E0z
.
This is always my spec, I can tank or dps any raid in the game with this spec.
I have a butt load of mitigation and dodge as a bear and I can finish on bosses within the top 5 if I'm dps'ing usually. Hope this helps :)

Typical numbers for me are something like:
35% Rip
30% Rake
14% Shred
7% Mangle
And the last 14% are white attackshmmm...
And what DPS can you pull self buffed (MotW only) on the lvl 80 target dummy with this DPS composition? Because my DPS rotation seems to be quite different, since I end up with
THIS
damage distribution usually: 30% Melee, 26.5% Shred, 20% Rip, 17.5% Rake (the added values of DoTs, 14.5% and initial applications 3%), 6% Mangle. Pretty big difference...
Anyway one thing is certain - Shred is actually considered the best special attack to be used in a DPS rotation. Both theorycrafting AND practical results support this.
Also
Predatory Instincts
yields quite a hefty increase in DPS for only 3 talent points. Having your critical strikes hit for 220% normal damage instead of 200% is a significant increase. And when coupled with a 21agi/+3% crit damage meta gem, critical hits rise up to 226% normal damage. A respectable DPS kitty will have at least ~45-48% crit raid buffed, so the importance critical hits should not to be ignored. Even with simple math, if we assume a 50% crit rate and 100 attacks at 1000 base damage, we have an average of total damage like this: 1000*50 + 2000*50 = 150000 damage. With talent and meta gem, we have: 1000*50 + 2260*50 = 163000 damage. That equates to an 8.6% increase. Which is pretty phat if you ask me. I mean it has even more per talent point efficiency than
Naturalist
(which is considered one of the best kitty DPS talents), which gives a 10% DPS increase for 5 points (2% per point) while Predatory Instincts gives 8.6% increase for 3 points (2.86% per point :). And the more crit you have, the better it becomes.

I'm currently and probably always going to use the spec listed hybrid in my sig...
lol had a convo with one of the guild MT's the other day
*him* "O.O Ig, what are you specc'd, cause i thought you were a bear?
*me* "i'm hybrid, cat or bear"
*him* "cause youre putting out great dps O.o"
*me* "i cant spec to lock into one, i like both"
if im slacking off i stay in top 5 or 6 in a naxx 25...
if im trying some im in top 2-3...
