I have a level 24 Blood Elf Rogue, which is my first roll of this class. I am constantly missing targets and being dodged and parried. Usually about half of the time my attacks get dodged, parried, or I miss. I am wandering if this is a normal part of a Rouges leveling process. I am pretty well off as far as armor with mostly blues and a few greens. Her is a link to my armory page
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Shattered+Halls&n=Marcrusus Is this normal or is there something I should change to make leveling this toon a little more pleasant. When I say this I mean any way to not log off yelling "Screw this game, I am deleting this character.

The viability of daggers before 50 really depends on your ability to keep a mob stunned/incapacitated in order to position yourself for backstab. Well, that's not the be-all-end-all, it's also your gear. I was levelling a second rogue for fun, and I was 1-shotting stuff with Ambush, but that's besides the point.
If you're new to rogue (which is sounds like you are,) you have two options:
- Spend some quality time learning your CC abilties (stuns, gouge, etc.) so you can maximize time behind them mob
- Spec combat and run around SSing stuff in the face until it dies.
It's unquestionable that Combat is often the most efficient levelling spec among most people because of its "oh crap" abilities, but if you're comfortable controlling the mobs and your environment, then daggers can actually prove to be quite a fast levelling experience. This all changes when you get Mutilate, however, as Mutilate no longer has positional requirements, allowing you to stab things in the face as well. Pick whichever you prefer, and have fun above all else!

Looking at your Talent build thus far, I can see you have 2/2 Improved Sinister Strike and 5/5 Dual-Wield Specialization. Typically while leveling a rogue the most common build would be to pick up a very slow main-hand weapon and a very fast off-hand weapon. At this point though since you're only level 25 it doesn't really matter THAT much on how to maximize your potential DPS.
If you want the cookie-cutter build (the tried and true method of leveling), then grab yourself a one-hand sword or mace that has the slowest weapon speed possible (At least slower than 2.20). In your off-hand, grab a fast weapon that is in the same weapon category. A prime example of the cookie-cutter if you want to go swords: you can pick up
Butcher's Slicer and
Thief's Blade in your main-hand and off-hand, respectively.
Once you level up and spec further down the Combat tree, you will notice the specializations in weapons, notably
Sword Specialization or
Mace Specialization which is what you're aiming for.
Backstab requires you to be behind your target, which may make things harder for you since you have to always position yourself accordingly. I have leveled a rogue from Combat and a rogue from Assassination. From my experience, if you like the aspect of PVPing and wanting to actually attack like a rogue, then go assassination. I say PVPing because practicing on PVE mobs helps you figure out the energy generation and rotations necessary to optimize the time to strike your target with backstab. Energy management is very important if you plan to PVP. AND, I found that the idea of attacking from behind seems fitting no? =)
10/0/0If you enjoy watching your target die just from hitting one button, then Sinister Strike (SS) is your mash-until-your-target-dies button. To explain very simply, SS is an instant attack, meaning it is not based on your weapon speed. To benefit the most from SS, you want a weapon that hits very hard and thus naturally means a slow weapon. There are times when I would Cheap Shot a mob, SSx2, a couple of white damage hits, Eviscerate, and the target would be dead. =/
0/14/0Hope that helps explain things.

One last note, if you are fighting mobs that are of higher level to you, expect yourself to miss a lot more.
