I need to increase my DPS for raids/heroics, Useing HaT spec I'm sitting at an average overall 1600dps. I tend to a bit better on boss fights (depending on the boss) about 1800 dps. Somtimes I get lucky on my crits and can do about 2400 dps, but I can't base my performance off luck.
My goal atm is to do an overall average have 2000-2200 dps, and looks like I'll never get there with HaT spec. I have tried Mutilate spec which I had high hopes for, but I just suck at it... I can't multi task and keep track of all my timers and buffs while managing my aggro and combo points at the same time.
That pretty much only leaves me combat spec which I have the least experience with (cuz I hate the idea of a combat rogue but thats another story) So was wondering whats the best way to spec it, and what weapons to use. I have probably the best daggers you can get without doing 25 man raids, but daggers are retardedly useless in combat soo...
I own
Fist of the Deity
Unholy Pursuader
and I think my best sword is
Fang of Truth
Here is my
armory
any suggestions?

Well if you hate combat don't do that.
If you are dedicated to learning the muti rotation, which includes pooling energy, monitoring your buffs, and using your abilities at the right time, then I would go mutilate.
It honestly can take 2-3 months to really get comfortable with muti. Once you are at the point where you can relax ans just hit the keys you need to when you need to, the spec/rotation puts out a lot of DPS.
If you really want to put out higher dps, you really need to learn the mutilate rotation. It just takes time. Practice on the Dummy every chance you get and you will be fine.

Thanks for the reply,
Its not so much I hate the combat spec is self, I'm just unfamiliar with it. What I hate is the idea behind the combat spec. I look at the talents in the tree and just imagine a blood drunk enraged dude swinging swords as hard and as fast as possible, where as I would rather be more sneaky and strategic. Make sense? However I'm willing to look past that if I can get much better dps with it in raids.
But I might try practicing with muti spec more and see if I get better at it, its just that I have done that already, and its hard to justify the money respecing back and forth if it's not working out. My thing is, I haven't really tried combat spec much, tinkered with it, but never really full on used it, so who knows, I might end up liking it if used right.... and thats what this thread is all about, learning how to use it right.

Compared to Mut specced rogue, who I imagine is a enraged dude hungry for blood swinging daggers as hard and as fast as possible, maybe even at the same time! :O
I kid, but really, its really preference. Combat and Mut specs have comparable DPS, with Combat having a much less complicated (some say easymode) rotation.

If 100g is hard to justify to increase your dps, you may have larger problems at lvl 80 than dps output :P
But seriously, if you are concerned about the gold get a
spreadsheet
to estimate your dps before you respec and do all that fancy stuff. It also works before spending all that gold on new items to make sure they are in fact upgrades.
You can test out different spec's and gear to see what your dps output would be using the spreadsheet and then pick the spec and gear you like the most.
At the lvl cap a spreadsheet is your only reliable source of estimating and improving your dps for the spec you choose to play. And if you are serious about improving you need to learn to use one.
The other thing, is once you have picked a spec you have to stick with it. No specing back and forth because you will never get used to the rotations of that spec completely. Like I said before, mutilate can take 2-3 months to really master and be able to put out high numbers even in encounters where rogues are at a disadvantage due to stuns and movement that most bosses preform in WotLK.

Been using a spreadsheet for the past few days actually... I think my eyes are permanently crossed now lol. That's why I turned to asking about it here on the forums, cuz I was giving myself a headache with the spread sheets.
But I'll say again, I might practice with Mutilate spec again later on, but as for now I'd like help or suggestions with combat spec as that's the one I haven't tried yet.

Have you read the sticky on the spreadsheet? If you have any questions about using the spreadsheet or anyway to improve the sticky to make it more accessible I would like to know as I am the author of that particular one.
Read the
sticky
at the top of the forum for the best information about the combat spec.

I have indeed read the spreadsheet sticky, downloaded the very spreadsheet listed in the sticky, and played with the spreadsheet all over the weekend, and now I think I have a tumor growing out of my right eye lol =)P
I understand where your coming from, "Figure it out for your self, you have the tools" but what's the use of having these forums if I'm not allowed to ask for some suggestions from other players who actually have experience in the area of my concern? I'd rather go off experienced player's opinions then my faulty use of an excel spreadsheet I have almost zero experience using. Yea I know, you layed out all the instructions on how to use it, and thankyou. I still would like to have some experienced player's opinions or suggestions.

The spreadsheet is the only way to determine what will maximize your toon's DPS in PvE.
Other people, they use different gear, they use different specs, they use things that will not work to maximize your dps.
If you want, go to my armory and get everything that I have, exactly. And you will be able to pull 1800dps in heroics unbuffed. I can garuantee that.
But if you have anything, just one thing different, the advice I give will give you different results.
There is general advice that rogues can give to eachother. But for endgame content and specific advice about your toon, the spreadsheet is the better than the experience of a player who may or may not know anything.
The reason there is a forum is to improve the rogue community. If the best way to improve is by reading the stickies, well that is where you are going to be directed. And honestly, for you, it is.
The stickies are the best information on the forum, not the advice given by experience.
Simply look at
this thread
and compare it to the information in the sticky. People's experience = Fail advice. My advice is exactly what the spreadsheet tells me to do = win. If I vary from the spreadsheet my dps goes down. Am I going to listen to others advice? No. Why? Because I have enough experience to know that the spreadsheet is better.

I'm gonna jump in your thread, as I could use a little combat help as well :)
I'm currently only 73, but I've just gone combat after levelling as sub up until Northrend. Would I be right in thinking that an ideal rotation for me when I'm just questing would be CS, SnD, and then some traditional 2222223'ing? With eviscerate being replaced with rupture on boss/long fights?
I really have very little ability as a rogue, my DPS through Outlands was poor and I never really grouped on this toon. But I'd like to be able to do 5-mans without getting thrashed by the tank on the meters, so I figured I'd ask.
Cheers in advance.
