In every aspect of wow: pve, pvp, melee, ranged, etc... Keybind will ALWAYS be better for faster reaction.
But some aspect will be more possible with clicking: ranged dps in dungeons for example.

Last night I wanted to get a bit more serious about PvP (even tho I'm fully tank geared lol)
Anyway, I got rid of the A + D left and right turns and made those my strafing keys
Q + E are now my Icy Touch and Scourge Strike keys with X as death coil, and F as rune strike.
Holy ^&$# did it make a difference - Basically I'm strafing circles around allies so fast that they can't even hit me while I'm firing off all my special attacks.
You just have to get used to the mouse being your movement as opposed to the keyboard. If you want to PvP and do it well you pretty much have to set everything up for keybinding.
Give it a try - and if it's not for you, then go back to keyboarding.
Hope this helps

Holy !@#$ I never even thought of that, I still right click with A/D to strafe :(
Man I can't wait to get home from work tomorrow!

.....
Clicking is bad. The only clicking I do is blowing CD's, and even that is a bit too slow nowadays. I just have no room left to fit more keybinds.
On my druid and my paladin, I use 10-20 buttons for useful spells. My fingers only go so far before I can't strafe while biting people's heads off in pvp.....
I'm getting annoyed tho, because my keyboard is programable, but the driver only works half the time. I want to try moving modifiers to my left and right turn keys, but I can only do that if the driver works all the time. That, and my hands are too big to use modifiers where they are placed, so I actually normally use my space bar for a modifier, but I'm running into the same issue with the driver being lame, so half the time it's hard to access my modifier bars.
WTB keybinds that can be "space+1, space+2, etc."!

One of the first things I learned is
Keybinds > Clicking.
I use a + d as my left and right straife. My keybinds are as follows.
1 Death Grip
2 Icy Touch
3 Plague Strike
4 Scrouge Strike
Q Blood Strike
E Mind freeze/Obliterate (depending on what spec I am)
Shift Q Death Strike
Shift E Chains of Ice
R Horn of Winter
Shift 3 Bone Armor
Shift 2 Anti Magic Zone
Shift 1 Gargoyle
Shift Space IBF
Crt Space Anti Magic Shell.
On my mouse I have 2 extra buttons.
Mouse button 5 is Auto Run
Mouse button 6 is DC
Shift Mouse 5 WotF
Shift Mouse 6 Trinket
` Key is DnD
Shift ` key is Goul Stun.
F is Rune strike.
I know I'm missing some other keybinds, but WoW is down and I can't look at this moment, this is all from top of head. What I do is just make some smart keybinds when I start a new character and by the time I hit max level they are second nature.

You would set it up the same way sevink just showed you, except you fine tune it to what you want to use for spells/abilities.

And if you are referring to someone who already has a setup with mage bindings - I'd check out the mage forum =D
