I know at least 1 yes. No AoE, single target (raid boss), with Cower on and Growl off (obviously) My cat stays neck and neck with our main tank. Im constantly apologizing for his threat generation. I have to recall him so he doesnt pull. Our MT generates between 4.5k and 5k tps.
Of course thats raid buffed and im sure the 2300 dps Kitty's dishing out has nothing to do with that though either.
sorry =/ you asked >.<
But this is about gorilla's not Kitty's solo threat gen. Bottom line: Gorillas are pimp for tanking just about anything. Every hunter should have one in their family.
If you dont have one... get one... I have 2...

I have never experienced leveling this fast since I started playing WOW. Get a gorilla and aggro 6 -10 mobs and volley them down. Get like 2500 exp in one run. It's like questing but fun cause you get to kill stuff. Even kill quests are faster to do.

Well, boost a Gorilla like that and I don't think a tank will be able to hold... but yeah, your Cat probably do more threat than my (probably most) Gorilla because of gear differences by just auto attacking.
But if you compare a cat being used by me and a gorilla being used by me, I doubt a Cat will be anywhere close to the Gorilla.

well ok. Lets go the other way now. My gorilla vs my cat in a threat battle - single target - now I understand there are threat multipliers at work with a gorilla, but not as many as a tank has, but my cat while buffed and in BW does so much damage i find it hard to believe that my gorilla would out threat him.
yes they would both have the same buffs but on single target the damage difference is staggering. Rake scales too well. I mean my cat pulls threat from the MT with cower on.
I think its another one of those "it comes down to gear" moments. Lower levels a gorilla hands down, upper levels the scaling is so much different between the 2 pets that i have to say kitty for single target threat generation. Not confusing that with tanking abilities btw because kitty is still a squishy.
Survivability + Awesome threat = Gorilla
Threat battery = Kitty
in early Naxx/Heroic quality gear
of course just my observations so Im sure someones gonna bring some numbers to the table ~_^

Main point where Gorilla may lose on a raid buffed situation is because... TS scales with SP, not AP. How many SP buffs we have and are cast on Pets? =P

Gorilla build with BM talent.
Never dies, Never loses threat, and Mend pet Heals for over 1k a tik. I can take on a dozen or more mobs. with only 1 mend pet, no BW or any buffs needed.
Gorilla is BEST for leveling/farming. Hands down end of discussion.
Anyone that wants to use it for DPS go smah your head in a wall. Thats what ferocity is for.
Your cat, your bear, your moth, your (every single other pet) sucks compared to a gorilla becasue Thunderstomp is invaluble when it comes to AoEing mobs down quickly and efficently.
As for single target threat I would assume Gorilla would still be the best as he has a taunt and his thunderstomp creates more threat. Along side all of the other stuff hes doing to make threat. That is my guess, Everything else up there^ is real so get used to it.
