Well, let's put it this way
my sister can heal me through an instance, regular or easy heroic, without gear...
I can't tank without gear
tanks usually have the toughest job, then the healer imo

Yeah you know I find myself having easier jobs to do in 25-man encounters than I do in 5-mans a lot of the time. Pulls in raid encounters are pretty damn simple compared to the myriad of things to know about all the pulls in every 5-man. Encounters in raids often require much more of the group moving as a flock than of individuals. It seems like I'm either picking up an add and holding it or picking up the boss and holding it and sometimes (in both cases) moving from point A to point B. Nothing more.

Dps don't have a very controlling part, but they are very important. If it was just a tank and a healer, you aren't going to be getting anywhere fast, and your healer WILL run OOM eventually.

I thought the OP was interested in our opinions on which role has the most
control
in a group, not who is necessary or has the hardest job.
Speaking from experience as a combat daggers rogue, the role of DPS can have an intense time in certain encounters when really pushing the limits. Usually this requires an excellent tank who can maintain very high TPS to give us more time in high DPS mode.
When you look at it like that, it's really the tank throttling the DPS. Even if it's just a mage lobbing Fireballs.
The healers' job is to keep the tank (and others) alive at all times. Very often this means chain-healing, but in other times such as 5-man groups this can be more interactive, despite being just as prone to error.
You may think the healer is running the show at this point, but you forgot to cover the third role: the tank.
I am at the front of the line. I control the flow of the dungeon & the creatures within: where they go & what they're doing. I move slightly, mobs adjust. I control them & I control the field, Intervening when necessary. I am not the Queen, I am the chess board.
Can I haz pawnz?
