Do any gay guys play WoW?

Wow, I am utterly impressed. I have been in the gaming community a very long time. And, maturity is always an issue.
It is great to see a large participation in a subject without the usual juvenile commentary.
You all rock!

Details about someones sexuality doesn't belong in WOW.
On a side note, I love gay people, unlike heteros they do not reproduce. More people should turn gay, 6 billion+ is enough humans on this planet, me thinks
Oh, and gayness is natural among all animals. We are all gay, just to varying degrees.
The anti-gay talk you hear in general chat is by young men who aren't comfortable with their sexuality. Most of them probably have never touched a woman.

Theres a gay guy in my guild, at least I think he is, unless he was just messing with us..
That just reminded me of something.
We were in a raid and this DK was talking about tanking, so he says on vent "I love tanking. I enjoy having a big monster in my face." So I replied with "Yeah, I bet you do like having a big monster in your face."
Everyone should be familiar with this sort of comment. Hanging out with your buddies, someone says something that can be slightly construed as being gay, so you point it out and have a quick laugh about it.
So we all chuckle about it and move on. The DK whispers to me, "I don't appreciate your comment." "You know I'm gay, right?"
I didn't know. In fact, I probably wouldn't have said it had I known. Not because I'm overly sensitive to his feelings, but merely for the fact that him being gay makes the joke not funny.
As for the original topic; there's a lot of gay bashing because there's a lot of immature people on the internet. And it all goes back to that whole internet douchbag theory. I'd link the comic if I could find it...

Yes, there are 2 species of bird that I know of, where a percentage of the population exhibit life long homosexual behaviour.
Gay people reproduce, As for my bf and I, We both plan on fathering a child (artificial insemination). but keep in mind this is PG-13ish site and, the little gay and strait kids do not need to hear any more than that

No, you don't need to let your sexual orientation to be known. Never. There is no reason to unless you want people to let who you are or you are asked of, there is no
correlation whatso ever with sexual orientation and cars, pools, stuff
That's like comparing tobacco and dogs....
"There is no reason to unless you want to let people who you are or you are asked of "
that is 100% correct.
and if you replace 'sexual preference' with any thing else (Ex, 'love of dogs')
than it will still be 100% correct.
We share important aspect of our lives with each other. Thing that set us apart and define us as a individual. As well as, parts of our lives that connect us to others and define us as a hole.
if a person uses tobacco and has dogs. then both are aspect of that person's life. If they consider one of them important aspects that either set them apart or connect them to others. Than it is fair game for conversation subject matter. This is the bases of social interactions in humans.
Many gay people (not so much strait people) see sexual orientation as something that qualifies as a important aspect of themselves that either set them apart or connect them to others according to the social environment.
most people do not show up to PUG and say on vent:
-Hi
-Are we running naxx?
-I still need buffs
-Wow I love gay men! -OR- I am strait so keep the gay away!
-So, who is the MT?
Yet, there is times when making a comment will disclose you sexual orientation (like "my wife wants me to get in bed" and, people know you are male form your voice; thus you are disclosing you are strait).
Blizz has made Wow a social game and, If you do not expect people to do so (i.e. share information as they wish, with out infringing on the rights of others), than wow is not for you

The WoW community is obviously pretty much straight guys, with the occasional girl...
General chat is pretty anti-gay,
So I got to wondering.... Do any gay guys play WoW? Or do they stay away so they don't get treated badly by other players?
The military has this great saying and I think it would work for WoW as well... " Dont ask Dont Tell"
It is none of our business and we shouldnt be asking...
So a law that would force people to lie about them selves and if they show any integrity and let their guild mates (who depend on each other) know they will be discharged from wow?
I served this nation for 6 years and, defended the rights of others when I did not have the same rights, before I decided to leave do to DADT. And if it is changed I will serve again.
Its not a law that forces people to lie about there sexuality its more of a protection. Alot of Americans are not open to gay or lesbian sexuality. So the DADT is to protect them from being herassed...
As of Sunday, April 5, 2009; 4,266 soldiers have been killed in action in the Iraq.
As of Monday March 30, 2009; 11,274 soldiers have been discharged under "don't ask, don't tell"
We have lost more soldiers to DADT than to enemy action
And, DADT has cost the taxpayers $360 million. that cost comes from training, recruiting and, pay for GLBT soldiers, only to have the soldier discharged and the military lose their investment in that soldier.
DADT prevents gay soldiers form living normal lives.
Under UCMJ and DADT you can not engage in any "homosexual act"
i.e. marriage to a nother guy or even having a bf. let alone have kids with that person and raise a family.
Gay soldiers can not seek the same support for there families as other soldiers can, I had a friend in another unit. His "life partner" was in a car accident when he was deployed.
IF this was a strait soldier and it was his wife in the car accident, His wife's family could send a "red cross message" to him that day. By the end of the week he would have been home on emergency leave with his wife.
My friend's husband's family could not get a "red cross message" do to DADT. so they had to call him personally and that takes a few days. He did not find out until his husband had all ready died. He still could not take emergency leave to grieve the loss of his loved one with his family, as any other soldier could. Because he could not disclose his sexual orientation, He could not justify the emergency leave.
He committed suicide 2 years ago. His death had a lot to do with me leaving; along with wanting to live a life, have a husband and, raise a family.
So the DADT is to protect them from being herassed
DADT prevents soldiers from seeking help, that all other strait soldiers can get.
/fixed DADT is removed than new law set in place to prevent harassment and, make the harasser take the burden and not the victim of the harassment.
but this is way off topic, if you want to debate with me e-mail me at roadoftheway7@aim.com

Depending on whose definitions and surveys you use, anywhere from 2-10% of the population is homosexual.
More than 10 million people subscribe to WoW.
I'm going to answer the original question with "yes", without bothering with anecdotal evidence.
(Though from the anecdotal side of things, I know of at least three gay people in my guild. No one cares, nor has anyone been offended at playful jokes going in both directions.)

There was a barrage of jokes reguarding "questionable" sexual behavior last night while we were trying to do 3D Sarth. I'm not sure if anyone in our guild is gay, but the jokes are pretty regular.
That's like, I know of a black guy who is a main tank for one of the top guilds on our realm. I think he's the only black guy in the guild, and the "n" word gets thrown around on vent and G chat all the time. No one ever gets offended. Usually he's rebutting with redneck and trailer trash jokes.
To make it simple, and no one has to read between the lines.
Toughen your hide. The hippie "love everyone" BS is one of the main problems. People that can't handle the banter are the ones that bring down our community.
Grow some huevo's
(I'm german/pure white decent) and
speak your mind
(climate permitting. Don't go saying these things in front of or around children).
You have to be an azz at some point in time. Learn to be up front and blunt about everything, including jokes/gender/race/sexual preference/job/military. Say it, accept that others are different, and if you are too prejudice to handle it, /gquit and go fail at something else in your life.
