As for PST standing for Please send tell, I always think of the noise you make when you are trying to discreetly get someones attention as in:
"PSSST. Look at that dude making an ass of himself. I bet he thinks he is so cool."
If you don't like the way the "jargon" of WoW has gone, you pretty much have 3 options.
1. Type everything out the full length and have everyone on your server point and laugh at you.
2. Learn to accept it for what it is. Internet slang.
3. Stop playing WoW and go learn some new games terms.
Also, QQ comes from Korean culture when that is the "English" version of the noise they make when they are fake crying.

Always thought that was because a capitol Q looks like an eye with a tear.

I once asked why to QQ meant to cry about something, and the answer I got was a bit cruder than that. It seemed a little odd, too, so I am going to replace it in my mind with one of the above two explanations.

World of Warcraft is no longer just a game it has its own language, meanings, logic, laws, rules.. un-written. Well some of them are un-written. These things run deep in the game. "cough"
"Geek Is" Enjoy and embrace your inner geek!
Yes.. i have lost the plot. It was them quests in the Barrens that did it
.
The conversations / chat that took place, should never be talked about... what happens in the Barrens, Stays in the Barrens, don't even get started on the "
Crossroads
" gives me chills.. nightmares.
When a game has been around for so long. With so many players all connected for so long, this brings life into the game. Us as players we write the path of the language. Everything us humans say & do in life will reflect in the same way. We have no control over what our subconscious thoughts decide. When enough people say.. a word... soon you will repeat that word, in the end.
Language is built over time, subconscious... the art of social expanding.. a passage.. that time will decide. When we think, everything we have learnt comes from subconscious thoughts. This is our dictionary.
(Soon you will all be saying "
I love Hello Kitty
" this is the meaning of the entire Universe.. repeat after me "
I love Hello Kitty
")
Mine thoughts / mind is corrupted... mine thoughts is corrupted, with bad code. Since i have played a gnome... no turning back with such thoughts. Everyone that plays World of Warcraft is effected. "You do not have Rabies" .. just infected. It is safe to leave your computer at any time. Reminder: always use protection.. get a Authenticator.
I have something important to say, these words come from the Heart, some will not like this comment, others will be... "Yeah... this is Geek.. kneel before these words""

It's much simpler than that, text speak evolved to get around the restrictions of the 160 character limitations of SMS.
WoW Chat also has character restrictions as well as an environment where information needs to be conveyed quickly sometimes.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
shocking... you think my posts means.. blah blah.. lets copy paste your edit

...some might agree, with what you have typed, but only people with limited understanding.. "nods"
True meaning to our
intelligence
is a simple yet effective answer. Long ago we learnt this key ability
"
imagination
"
, this is the key to the human intelligence, that we have today. You can write off my post in a rather rude manner... perhaps you don't have the time of day to actually read what i typed. But i give you this post for you to set a "evolved quotation" yet again. But truly i don't mind, since lately all your posts seem to end in a negative manner towards most posts.
My post was light hearted fun...

The context of my post if you actually take the time to read, does infact talk about the way everyone chats in World of Warcraft. You didn't like the part about "Barrens" perhaps you wasn't about back then? It was written in a light hearted concept. Sometimes life in a post is better then... mono-talk, that you can fall asleep at.
Someone conjure me some Cookies.. its been a long day..
Anyone esle remember "Barrens" chat... ? If ya old school, you will get this post. If you watched Blizzcon, you will get my post. Do some research :)
ops.. edit typo's..

Shocking that you haven't seen any Blizzcons, a true World of Warcraft fan would go watch them on Livestream.
copy paste this into U-tube (Chris Metzen) guess who he is ?
"Geek Is" Enjoy and embrace your inner geek! ...the Key person behind this game said this statement.
The gnome story, was from a quest... you can find the quest on this very forum.
Some people liked the story, better then some person, talking about getting banned, without giving any real answer to why they did in the first place. We all asked valid question on that topic, no reply, so we made it our own idea to why he got banned.

Especially given WoW's deliberately cartoonish style, it is
not
legitimate to be annoyed by the use of the word "toon" to describe our characters.
I agree :)
World of Warcraft, does deliberately do the cartoonish style. It does so many bad jokes, good jokes... references, half the time you will never even notice them. The entire game is light hearted fun. Why people want to pick at every little thing the game does & the way people act.. chat doesn't make much sense at all.
The OP's post is a odd ball... since they use this term "WTF" after i saw this... i couldn't even take any of the comments worth while... since it was about how we word stuff. So using "Toon" isn't ok.. but "WTF" is... strange logic.

you can't really say one is right and the other is wrong.
"One is right and the other is wrong." I
so
could do that. Anyway, there's no reason they both can't be wrong.
Anyway, the original post is four years old. ;)

Jargon.. I don't understand why people have a problem with it, most communities have some kind of slang in game for things.
This is something that I have seen in so many communities that I am a member of and it is interesting when I bring the jargon from one to another.
I look at my work technical jargon, WOW, and several other groups to which I belong. Each has their own jargon and changed meanings to various words that it is interesting to have people in other groups around when talking the jargon of one of them.
