Xenagos is the one I'm disappointed with. I didn't know there was another one what is Ashiok?

And I'm not disapointed in Xenagos so much as underwhelmed by it when compared to Domri Rade. They're both built for the same archetype, and yet Domri Rade appears to be significantly better. So having them both be Standard legal at the same time doesn't make much sense.
I don't think Ashiok is going to see significant Standard play. The plus ability doesn't affect the board state nor gives any card advantage, which is something you really want from a plus ability. And the minus ability is so random, which is another thing you don't want.

I really like Ashiok but she makes me hate the idea of going up against mill decks even more. A feat I never thought would happen.

I like Ashiok, but I'd like her so much more if her ability discarded the cards instead of exiled them. There aren't many blue/black decks that you can build around exiling.
I actually rather like Xenagos, if just for the mana generation. Oh, and his art. His art is pretty boss.

Anyone else play at a prerelease, or plan on playing this weekend?
I went and did a sealed event and thought I did okay for my first one. I ended up doing 1-3, but all the loses went to the last game. And I believe my lack of experience probably did me in. I ended up playing G/B, with just a few blue thrown in. One card I got I liked a lot and might build a standard deck with her in it,
Prophet of Kruphix
. I believe because of her I was able to win a few games.
There is also a draft Saturday and I have been playing around with an online drafter and I think I'm almost ready to go. But I have a problem sticking to BREAD, and instead I tend to focus on two colors and try to pick cards for just those.
Either way, I'm enjoying the set so far. And can't wait to do the hero events.

A friend of mine went to the prerelease and drew a non-promo foil of pretty much every mythic in the set.
It's ridiculous.

It seemed like I was the only person to not get a god card, a planeswalker or one of the god weapons. Someone next to me got both the green god and Xenagos. Person next to him got an Ashiok.
I hope I can get some better cards on saturday.

Cloudpost
and
Temporal Fissure banned in Pauper. It must be my birthday or something. Now I wish I actually had time to play.

I hear it's pretty good. Let me know how it is.
For myself, I've decided that Black is my favorite color. So many shenanigans you can get up to.
Maybe I just like cheap card draw...

As I said before, I'm always up for pauper on MTGO and can even loan a deck or two if I know who you are. Just add hyperspacerebel and hit me up. I also run a couple non-competitive standard decks.

I might get into Pauper if I can get some cards. Still learning the mechanics of it. If I see ya on I'll give ya a message. So far I like it though, gives me chances to play actual people and use cards that are somewhat new to me.
I like green, but that might just be because I haven't really played anything else. There is this U/W deck that I might get and play with.

G/B is fun. Lots of good reanimator possibilities with that (though I maintain that B/W is the best reanimator color combination). You also have some really nice mana accel and counter shenanigans with G/B, so it gets huge stupidly quick and then can come back if it gets wiped.

Red/Blue is my favorite combination between the burn and counter spells it's easy to throw my opponent off his game.
But with devotion out I'm running a mono white deck right now that I like.

I've decided that W/R/B is a
really
fun combo. So much board control. Anything that hits the field dies.
Horribly.

For most extended formats, URW is my favorite control deck. Red gives you removal and reach in the form of the single most efficient burn spell ever printed: Lightning Bolt. White gives two of the best single-mana hard-removal spells in the game in the form of Swords To Plowshares and Path To Exile as well as the amazing powers of Stoneforge Mystic. And Blue rounds everything out by giving you cheap or free counterspells, Delver of Secrets, and a handful of card filtering cantrips. Probably one of the most well rounded toolkits I've ever seen in a deck.

I haven't tried that combo, but I've seen it used a LOT. Back during the Gatecrash tour, I remember a European guy running a URW deck with Augur of Bolas, Boros Reckoner and the Azorius/Boros charms. It was a nasty combo.

So,I just got MTGO. Put together a little budget Modern deck to keep me occupied.
It's rather nice, being able to play whenever.

Yeah, I like the convenience of MTGO. It's pretty much the only place I play Magic anymore.

I like the idea of playing MTGO. I absolutely loathe the idea of paying MRSP for digital cards that I have to go through hoops to redeem.

It's not that bad. Most of the cards are cheaper than their paper versions.
