I present to you a grammatically correct sentence:
Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.
Anyone else know things like these that sound weird but are grammatically correct?
Discuss (yes, that
really
is completely correct grammatically).

I fail to see a proper verb in that sentence.
Look up
buffalo on Wikipedia
.

Heh. I did not know "buffalo" is also a verb. Interesting.
I just learned that today. Why one would ever need to say this sentence is beyond me, but it sure is cool.
And Nefarion, I wasn't trying to insinuate that I'm so awesome because I figured out this was a sentence that is grammatically correct. I just wanted to share it with everyone here, because I didn't really believe it until I read the Wikipedia article. Even if you weren't suggesting that I'm a grammar snob, I hate people like that too. However, I tend to /ignore people who tlak liek dis b/c itz a bit ezr 2 tiep.

There's no reason to every say this, it can be easier said, obviously. Without going the Wikipedia page, try to figure this one out.
James while John had had had had had had had had had had had a better effect on the teacher.
This one confused me for a very long time before I understood it. Technically in some ways, it could be considered wrong because of improper punctuation, but if you study it for a little bit makes sense.

.My head hurts now.
This one was better imo: "James while John had had had had had had had had had had had a better effect on the teacher."
EDIT: Guess Shelly posted it while I was still reading >.<

Actually he left out one buffalo so it isn't grammatically correct. It should be:
Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo
......................................................^...........^...............................
........................................................
VERBS
...............................
The original one I wrote as the first message of this thread is completely correct.

ok sorry I was just ignorant to the fact that the sentence: Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo
was just as grammatically correct as the sentence: Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo
it's kinda hard to tell with these kinds of things
You can say that again. These confused me so much at first that my English teacher had to parse and diagram it on the board before I had even a vague understanding of why this worked.

Shamelessly stealing the idea from the Wiki page, convert the words to more unique words. It's much easier to wrap your head around it that way.
Buffalo people Buffalo people intimidate intimidate Buffalo people
or
Proper-noun noun proper-noun noun verb verb proper-noun noun
Nefarion, thanks a lot. I understood it before, but now I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. =/
EDIT: Well, sort of... but it's still confusing.

English is fine and all, poerty sounds good in English, etc, etc.
But the fact that noun and verb are completely the same is one of the things I hate in English. Many other languages would have slightly changed word to present verb, instead of completely the same as noun. That's what makes them more imaginative, instead of just throwing the words one after another.

Wowhead - (proper noun) A site in the internet.
Wowhead - (verb) To search information inside the Wowhead (noun) site.
Wowhead - (adjective) A person who is smart/pretty/multi-talented.
Thus
Wowhead wowhead wowhead wowhead wowhead.
Did I just fail?

The purpose of this thread is to demonstrate that there are some words that can be used one after another and still make sense.
And many people, including myself, would argue that the complexity of English and other languages, such as German, make them more sophisticated and "imaginative." If we're able to say more things with less words, how does that make us less imaginative?
