[Game Mechanics] Combat rating calculations after patch 3.0

WIth the release of patch 3.0 we've seen a number of game mechanics change. Hit rating, crit rating, and haste have all been combined although physical and spell hit chance still use difference calculations and diminishing returns have been added to a number of avoidance stats.
I decided to put together a couple tools to help me convert between combat ratings and percentage chances and it seems like the sort of thing a few of you might also be interested in.
If you're interested take a look at this calculator and let me know if it would be worth my time to add similar pages for the other ratings.
Hit Rating
Crit Rating
Block Rating
Haste Rating
Expertise Rating
Armor Penetration
and the resulting physical damage increase.
Spell Resistance
Stats with diminishing returns:
Parry & Defense Rating
Dodge, Agility, & Defense Rating
Comments, suggestions, opinions, complaints, and rants are all welcome.

I had some free time, have some more calculators. Oooh pretty graphs, also fixes for anyone browsing with IE.
Stats with diminishing returns are next.

Looks good. How about hit caps in the graph? And maybe a "overcapped by"/"rating needed to hit cap"?
Are you waiting for WotLK to add levels 71-80?
Don't forget to make a complete avoidance page :)

I think your skills would be better placed into developing an ingame addon rather than making speacialized calcs that can be done in a common calc with simple multiplication/division..
Just say'n!
But those grapfs
ARE
shiney.......

I have level 71 to 80 calculations ready but I'm not making them live until closer to the lauch of Wrath as I'm not sure if Blizzard will change the conversions before then. They'll be live and match the test realm behavior before Wrath is available.
Avoidance and other stats are coming shortly as soon as I have a little more free time.
I'll work on addons at some point when I want Lua practice, right now I had some javascript libraries I wanted to play with and it's nice to be able to link to an example of the math (ie
http://www.zalambar.com/hit_calculator.html?level=57&spellHit=7&physicalHit=9&rating=120
). Besides, RatingsBuster already does this math in game if that's what you're looking for.

I started playing around with diminishing returns so a parry calculator is now available. Looking at that gap between the linear curve we used to have and the asymptotic one we have now is depressing.

This would be it in Excel:IF(level<10,RatingBase*2/52,IF(level<60,RatingBase*(level-8)/52,IF(level<70,RatingBase*82*(262-3*level),RatingBase*(82/52)*POWER(131/63,(level-70)/10))))(RatingBase is the conversion at level 60)

any word on the new conversions for agility -> dodge now that it has diminishing returns?
Diminishing returns are applied to your combined dodge chance from agility, dodge rating, and defense. The amount of dodge chance you get per point of agility at level 70 will eb the same s it was before patch 3.0. How much that will be reduced by diminishing returns will depend on what the total dodge chance from all three attributes is. No matter how which combination of stats you use to increase your dodge chance the effect of diminishing returns will be the same.
You can find dodge per agility ratios for each class at level 60, 70 (
http://www.wowwiki.com/Dodge
) and level 80(
http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t29453-combat_ratings_level_80_a/#post834904
) but I do not know of anyone who has worked out a formula for every intermediate level.

Since I didn't see any mechanic changes in 3.0.3 I've increased the level cap to 80, please let me know if you find something that doesn't match your expectations when planning for Wrath.
I've also added a calculator for dodge chance with diminishing returns. I don't yet have a formula for agility per percent dodge chance at all levels but I'll try to add that in if I can derive one. In the mean time you'll have to make do with just being able to specify dodge chance from agility rather than raw agility.

Hey could we get an armor penetration one for both rating to percentage conversion as well as percentage to damage increase on certain amounts of armor. That would be absolutely A+ to see how well the amount of armor penetration scales before or beyond a certain point.
Thanks a million for everything you already came up with. 'tis great!

Hi Flaks, sorry I didn't see your rely sooner. Sure thing I'll get right on that armor pen calculator as soon as I have a few minutes free.

Done, take a look at

and see if that's what you were looking for.

Fixed a careless bug with diminishing returns calculations, results should be accurate now.
I still need to add parry chance from strength for death knights, I'll take care fo that shortly.

Thanks glorybeast, although I'm afraid your thinking is a little bit inaccurate. Take a look at your thread for details and I've tried to make the calculator you were using explain the mechanics involved in a little more detail.
Oh and spell resistance calculations are now available:

On your ArP calculator page, I didn't see a graph of % damage increase vs increasing amounts of ArP at a set AC level. I'm not sure on the armor values of raid bosses at 80, but I would like to see a graph for each tier.
Done. Unfortunately I'm not sure about the actual armor on different bosses so you'll have to see if other players are starting the calculate that based on combat log data.
