As a lock who enjoys both PvP and PvE content, I couldn't be happier with this news. Even with the new trees, the complete differences between talent necessities for the two styles are as different as night and day. Until now, the only money saving recourse was to spec demonology, which is hardly viable when you are counted on to provide a good amount of DPS.

dude why take a druid over a lock? you dont, a warlock or other pure dps have something druids or other hybryds dont have, Pure dps, that means bigger and faster numbers over some hybrid. but thats just my opinion so dont start attacking me over stuff ok lol.

And why not make an ingame talentcalculator awailable through said trainers, without having to actually respecc?
That's exactly what I've always wanted to see. That way you can see more clearly the benifit of talents have on your character on base stats like spellpower or strength.
I see this as a bad thing because of the implications it has for PvP, being world PvP and battlegrounds. Imagine a frost mage blowing through his Ice barrier, icy veins, water elemental, cold snap, another icy veins, another ice barrior, then deep freezing, blink and wait five seconds to exit combat (because I assume you can't respecc in combat), then re spec pompyro and hit pyroblast and dragon's breath. In the right hands this will truly be op, more so to some classes than others.
This had better come with a 24 hour cooldown. That would make it balanced. In a raid you wouldn't need to do it more than once, and in PvP its completely unfair to begin with.

So far I'm still not seeing a valid downside. All I'm seeing are single-task classes going chicken little. Others have already pointed out why you bring a Warlock/Mage/Rogue/Hunter.
Remember that Blizzard's design trend is to make it so that you can (theoretically) take
any
combination of classes - filling the appropriate roles, of course (DPS/CC, Tank, and Healer) - and succeed in content. By allowing two interchangeable specs, you're doubling the flexibility of your raid.
Let's say we're headed into Karazhan; we've got a Warrior tank, a Paladin off-tank, 2 Mages, a Hunter, a Warlock, a Resto Druid, a Shadow Priest, an Enh Shammy, and a Rogue. For those fights where he isn't needed, the Pally swaps to Holy gear and switches specs to heal. Alternatively, the Warrior could swap to DPS gear and let the Pally single-tank Illhoof and Attumen. The Shammy could switch to Resto spec on Netherspite to help back-up the healers, and still do decent damage as needed (thanks to spell power changes). The Mages could spec into Fire to help take out the Water elementals on Shade. The Hunter could go into a pure DPS spec for those fights where he doesn't need to trap anything. The list goes on.

The Hunter could go into a pure DPS spec for those fights where he doesn't need to trap anything. The list goes on. until i saw that i didnt feel bothered, im bm on my huntard for raiding but its not that helpfull to be bm in mgt in my personal experiences. so wewt i can switch between my dps spec and my trap/utility spec between pulls. I still dont see much of a big woop, maybe i wont have much trouble farming elementals on my mage or something idk. Gratz hybrids i look forward to competing with you on the damage meters.
hate to state the obvious, and i dont like to call people out... well.. ok yes i do ;) ...but if you NEED to respec for any 5 man as a hunter theres a problem =/

Should be noted that apparently they did not state at BlizzCon that this feature would be immediately available upon WotLK release. They're still in the design phases to figure out the mechanics of how it will work and when it will be available.

...blah blah blah... Plus, i dont know about any of you guys, but i'm not looking to spend thousands each week buying glyphs each week. glyphs are a HUGE part and are needed for high end raiding. ...blah blah blah...
sorry for the blahs only wanted to comment on this part though ;)
The Dual-Talent spec feature will let you switch between your two specs without having to go back to town. You can perfectly do it between fights in a raid, however it won't be possible to switch specs in the middle of an Arena Match.
Your keybinds and glyphs will be saved and automatically switched as you change your spec.

My question, also. What's the downside to this?
Who wants to take a warlock into a raid when a moonkin can do as much dps as a warlock and still can heal with spellpower efficiently?
He can't. That's the downside to hybrids, they won't be topping the charts. At least that is the intention.
That was the intention in TBC. In WotLK they have clearly stated that it is not the intention.
Dual spec and spell power. As it becomes easier to be a hybrid, how do you plan to protect the 4 pure classes?
Valid questions we hear a lot. We're trying to buff up their utility and
they can never do less dps because they can't respec, we always make sure of it.
