Or you could just roll on a PvE server if you don't have a group of friends who are willing to come bail you out when you get corpse-camped. I ran a Horde character up to STV-level on Onyxia with two friends a few months back; none of us had 70s on that server. When we got corpse-camped for the fourth time in as many days and got only one response (from a solo 70) asking for help in General and Local Defense, we gave up.
The way you're describing it is the way it
should
work for successful, "realistic" world PvP. In my experience, it rarely works that way, because just as humans need to work out aggression, they also are very WIIFM*-centric and won't go out of their way without compensation. Not saying I wouldn't love to see battles of 10, 20, or more break out in open world zones - it's just that I haven't seen it happen on any of the servers I've played on. Which is one of the main reasons why I decided early on to play on PvE. At least there, I can go into a BG and be reasonably sure that at least half the people will be there for PvP as well (the other half will be bot-driven honor farmers or "LFLosing" losers).

One aspect of these discussions that always appears is the conflating of camping and ganking. Once again ganking = killing a member of the other faction who has no chance once and moving on. Camping = ganking someone and staying around and repeatedly killing them so that they are unable to play on that character.
Clearly WoW has achieved market penetration far in excess of any prior MMO. It is the first MMO experience for many of not a majority of its subscribers. Many of us joined to play with friends and the selection of the server to play on was based on where they play. Open player vs player combat may not convey to someone new to MMOs, what they can really expect. Since they play in protected areas until they are in their 20s, even those who did not select a server to play with friends may well have made a number of in game friends. The attitude of "move to a PvE server" is merely a convenient dodge not a realistic position. These inexperienced players also may not yet have joined a guild, or not yet found a quality guild. Thus rendering the option of being defended by their guild moot. I doubt very much that the campers in this discussion give unguilded lowbies a free pass.
Reading the WoW policies also fails to convey to the uninitiated what the experience of being camped can be like for someone new to the game. Further while it expressly states that corpse camping is an allowed behavior it also flags as important that "Though this policy reflects a somewhat "hands-off" approach, the GM staff will intervene in cases of extreme or excessive harassment". One persons "normal camping" is another persons "excessive harassment".
Ok a wall of text to lay the ground work for the following:
While it may be within the rules for one or more high level players to camp one or more lowbies to get their jollies, it is no more than simple juvenile bullying. Drive by ganking is simply an aspect of leveling on a PvP server all of us come to accept it sooner or later. Those of you who "relax "by camping the defenseless are beneath contempt. Your enjoyment is based on annoying and frustrating others.

That level 20 probably has a main, or has a guild, and likely he has friends
You're going to call people out for straw man arguments and then use vague assumptions to defend your own? What about those people who don't have a guild or don't have a 70 alt? What about those situations - far more common now, I would bet, thanks to the refer a friend program - where these are two brand-new players who know only themselves and have no high level friends?
Oh, right...
Hell, if all else fails, he has General and LocalDefense.
And all I can respond with is my own experience - which is that the majority of the time asking for help with a corpse camper in a zone where high-level characters don't spend a lot of time (like STV, for instance) yields no helpful results.
If corpse-camping and ganking is okay, then why should you expect help from your own faction? Shouldn't we just expect the response of, "Meh, we dealt with it - he'll leave eventually"? Again, one of the primary drives of the human animal is to do what benefits them most; what benefit do they gain from dropping whatever they're doing to come help you out?
I'm telling him that I want a fight. On a fighting server. On a war game. Please tell me what's wrong with that. I'm genuinely not seeing it.
Your fault comes in assuming that the person that you're corpse-camping (note - not drive-by ganking, because that's not what I have an issue with) has a controllable method to provide to you what you want, which is by your own admission "a fight". I'm assuming we're talking about a fair fight - one that would be challenging and entertaining.
And if that's true, then why are you not just attacking someone who can give you that fight in the first place - someone who is the same level as you, not some player who has no chance at all in challenging you in the slightest?
