My tip: waiting.
This is a beta version. Is not fully finished. Many things can be changed, and many things WILL be changed.

I'm mostly reserving judgement till wrath releases. The test realm discouraged me some but i dont think locks will reach thier full potential untill demonic teleport, shadowflame, and the full talent possibilities. Looks like locks will be strong in PvE, with the buff to destruction, and maybe strong in 5vs5 arena, but dont know how well they'll stand up against the burst damage of other classes in one on one.

I'm in the beta, and I can assure you, warlock's are fine.
Were still deliciously op in pvp, and pve now has 2 good choices( at this blue pvp gear level).
The problem with affliction was always dmg mitgation, and now that soul link is easily accessible, it rocks.

Warlocks are considered free HKs in beta. None of our weaknesses vs melee have been addressed where as the classes we could beat in BC got their weaknesses against us tweaked into their favor. Mages beat warlocks, warriors beat warlocks, rogues hands down wtfpwn warlocks, druids beat warlocks, hunters are beating warlocks.... etc etc. Not saying we're completely broken, just as broken as shaman were in BC, thats about what we're shaping up to be.
Demonic teleport sucks. You have to summon a circle and be within 40 yards of it in order to use it so its no good if you don't plan ahead and happen to still be within 40 yards of it. Shadowflame was nerfed to near uselessness.
We are the counterclass to no one now whereas we still have many classes that counter us.
Things are not looking bright for us warlocks in beta.
Pets still don't scale, meta still isn't great even with the changes to it recently, UA was recently nerfed so it doesn't last as long which means you have to reapply it sooner and makes reapplying dot rotations difficult, chaos bolt is nice but not worth a 51 pt talent spot and keeping a full stock of soul shards isn't being addressed at all yet.
If WOTLK went live today warlocks would be a horrible position. We are no longer debuffers, we are no longer DoT class, we are not the best pet class, we're not the best DPS class... atm there is no reason to bring more than 2 warlocks in a raid and filling the rest of the DPS slots with other classes.
We're looking pretty grim in both PvE and PvP. Hope the developers start listening to their playbase soon or i suspect a lot of warlocks that reroll death knights or mages.

From a pve point of view you people need to get a grip. All classes has had their "special" capabilities or class defining skills somewhat diminshed. There is tons of new way awesome warlock spec's and playstyles to choose with these new changes, and they arent gimped at all.

2 spots in a 25 man raid with 10 classes isnt bad. Though it's more likely to see hybrid classes with 3 or more raid attenders, but thats only fair as their individual specs are infact different classes.

I've had 4 Warlocks in my Kara groups sometimes, with the general warlock population of my Kara groups usually being two... 2 warlocks in a 25 man would be really sad for us, as we bring enough utility to be more then just /25, but with all the nerfs, we end up sucking way to much. :(
But I agree with everyone else... they really better fix us before WotLK goes live, or we may be at a disadvantage for a while.
