uh how about you just choose a random portal to cast... then cast it? Or Roll 1-4 and then cast based on that... Not that it would matter. Your friends would still see which portal you're casting on your cast-bar

I'm fairly sure there was a random function in the macro syntax. But the size of your macros if quite limited.
So for this to work you would then in a very limited amount of space assign each portal spell a numerical value, pick a value at random from this set of values and then cast that. There are six portals now, in wotlk it will be atleast seven. So concidering the lenght of the names of the spells you'll probably run out of room.
Add to that I'm not even sure it's possible to assign values to spells in your spellbook. As I recall it you could pick a random number and for example use the item in your backpack that corresponded to that number, as in say you have 4 mounts in you bag and they always occupy the same four spots, then you find out the number of that spots, randomly pick a number in that intervall say slot 20, 21, 22, 23 and then use that item. Random mount. This example will bork thou as soon as the next patch hits and all mounts stop being objects in your bag and get their own "spellbook" page. But you could really do this for say "drinking a random potion or eating a random foodbuff or whatever".
So ... Random Portal macro? Quite unlikely , probably not. It takes more room and you would most likely need to write an addon for it. So you are just better of doing it manually like bring up the portal page in your spellbook and pick some arbitary number at random and use the corresponding portal spell.

If you want "fun" you are going to have to be quick; First you put up a portal to where people want to go lets say Shattrath ... right after that without moving you slap up a portal just ontop of it to say Stonard.
There is a slight shift between them so it might depend on angle etc of the other person which one they'll click. You'll be super popular when half the raid portals out to stonard (or wherever) instead. Laughs all around. It was fun the first time or so but it got old very quickly. If nothing else it teaches people to look before clicking.
So naturally if your fellow raids have a sense of humor it might be fun once or twice.
This little "trick" can also work with warlock summonings, you slap a portal up right ontop of the summoning thing and probably a fair number of people will click the wrong one if they don't pay attention. This is slighlty less fun thou cause you normally summon people for a reason and messing around like that will quite probably get you a raid kick.

Favorite Summoning Trick:
Warlock Summoned a friend at lvl 69 to the floating rocks outside of the Botanica Island, then as he spawned we all flew away. lol! He was stranded on his elekk in the middle of the twisting nether. We all had a laugh until he decided to try and jump/slowfall his way to the instance, then missed. We were quick enough to land on the Botanica Island and summon him before his slowfall wore off and he plummetted to his death. Ahh good times at TK...
Thank God they took away that summoning restriction!

108/255 symbols.
So, what's the problem?
