OFC that if you start the duel unstealthed, the combat rogue will win. The sub rogue will loose his main abilities. But anyway i dont think any rogue at all (sub mainly) would start a duel unstealthed. (yes he got vanish, but since you said no stealth at all..)
About sub vs sub, obviously the most skilled one will win (or the first one to spam sap until he hits the other :P)

even if stealth weren't permissible in this strange description of a fight, the Subtlety Rogue would win.
Rogues are all about cooldowns, and the Sub rogue will have a double set of them; in addition, a shorter Blind, more raw AP, and cheaper CP generation.

Ahh true. But we'll permit stealth. But what if both rogues were to use evasion at the same time.. And the combat rogue having "blade flurry" which increases speed by 20%. Plus an additional "30%" with slice and dice. Making the combat rogue's attack speed faster. In a fight even with stealth, the combat rogue would surely be victor in that case, right?
It would be easier just to fight and see.
Combat get blade flurry, Subtley counters with Ghostly Strike. Or just vanishes, waits for BF to expire then wails away :)

Wouldn't matter. Sub Rogue will have double Evasion. Even with Surprise Attacks in the Combat's favour, you won't hit often enough for it to matter.
Add in stealth, and the scales only tip further into Subtlety's favour. Better stealth, higher stealth detection, cheaper openers...hell, even Mutilate is at a disadvantage versus Sub, Combat doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell.

Assassination is. Combat isn't.
Subtlety also gives you more room for error.

We aren't talking about any one version of Subtlety, especially not Sub Daggers - mostly because it's pretty bad. The end of your paragraph is pretty spot-on though.

you are all forgetting that combat has SA which makes ks undodgeable and shs-ks makes ks undodgeable. The first undodgeable/untrinketable ks the combat rogues lands, the fight is over. AR/BF roflpwn. On the same token, double vanish-cs and shs ks=sub rogue should win, with prep in the mix a sub rogue should always win.
