I think I messed up on a couple of points but where should I go from here? I got one point to use right now.

I hardly ever use fear and I am mostly PvE with a few friends half the time and grouped half the time questing so most of the time I am not being hit. Tried a few battlegrounds and while I do get a few hits in once I am focused on I die within secs which has me interested in short casting time of HoT. I am looking to get to UA then build up SB and Bane then one point in Shadow Burn. But is there anything I am skipping over? Should I respec and clean up my Aff tree? Outside of the 5G it will cost me to respec, what would be my other costs if I am staying in the same tree.

Your spec is level 47. I don't think it really matters at this point. I was destruction until 56 and was fine and found it better in PVP against other warlocks that are not specced destro due to nether protection. If you decide on affliction, with a more PVE approach, I don't think IHOT will do any good, but since its your preference here what I think.
If I was you, I'd do this

Once you hit 48, put the point in Dark Pact.
In your spec you have Imp drain soul, which is a waste of points IMO, because with improved life tap you gain enough mana that you can just drain life and get back what you have just life tapped. You did not put points in Nightfall which is bad. Nightfall is great for PVE and PVP as it is an instant cast shadowbolt when it procs, which is pretty often too. Curse of exhaustion is good for PVP and some PVE if you need to kite something. I would leave that 1 point into shadow embrace out as its not great in PVE. It is for PVP because it is one extra debuff to dispel.

I see ur point on Drain Soul. I rarely see myself using it anymore other than to make soul shards since I use Dark Pact and Life tap more often. If I respec, do I have to purchase my spells again? That's probably the only thing holding me back. Right now the cost for me to respec is 5G. I have spent so much on the spells, tomes and other training up to this point that I don't have much Gold. Also, should I take the one point I have in Suppression out? Or should I end up filling that up as well after I get UA. I could hold off on IHOT since I haven't had to use fear spells as much unless I am in Battlegrounds.
One more thing. I see peopl have skipped over ICoA. I use it a lot but could it be skipped to develop something a little earlier or better for what I want to do?

I'm not sure about your respec cost question as I'm not a person that likes to respec much. My guess is that you will only be paying for spells that you learn that are new from the talents. That 1 point in suppression is needed to get to the rest of the stuff down the tree. And less resists, equals more DPS and mana efficiency, but not necessary at low levels, so you don't have to fill it up immediately. After you get UA, I'd suggest moving over to the demonology side and pick up the talents for those, or destruction for the Imp SB, Bane, Shadowburn.
If you want to hold off on IHOT, then take those 2 points and fill out Contagion and Dark pact and get UA at 48. As for the Imp. CoA question, short answer, not really. You need those 2 points to move down the tree, and putting an extra 2 points in Suppression really isn't necessary at your level. I personally didn't get much resists with 1 point in suppression as I was leveling so 3 points in Suppression instead of having those in Imp. CoA would be a waste.
Here's an affliction spec that I enjoyed:

And from what you have said in your first post, you would like to tap into the destruction tree a bit and here's what I would do:
