Can Abilities Proc Poisons?

I figured before I slapped some poisons on my Rogue and examined my combat log for an hour or so, I'd see if someone already has.
Now, I know abilities like Shiv, for example, proc poisons. >.> And I'm sure Sap cannot proc a poison, nor can Deadly Throw, obviously. What I'm most curious about are the abilities between those, namely combo points generators and finishers. And how Blizzard determines which abilties can proc poisons, example: "If it 'requires a melee weapon' it can proc a poison." However easily agreeable on, Sap requires a melee weapon, and abilities like Garrote and Slice and Dice do not. Also, 'Requires a melee weapon' acts incorrectly sometimes, for example Shiv and Eviscerate both require a melee weapon but if I only have an off hand melee weapon equipped I cannot Eviscerate while being able to Shiv(shank), meaning Eviscerate requires a
main hand
weapon (which may or may not use your main hand poison) not just 'a melee weapon', and Shiv requires an
off hand
weapon, not just 'a melee weapon'.
Basically, the help I am asking for is:
1) Determine if an ability requires a main hand, a weapon (in either hand), or no weapon at all. (With Shiv again being the anomaly)
2) See if it can proc any/all poisons, and list that ability with a yes, or a no.
Please don't test abilities like Sprint, Evasion, Premeditation, Preparation, etc..
Thank you in advance,

Abilities that add combo points have a chance to proc poisons.

Are you positive that includes Ambush, Cheap Shot, Garrote? Being that they're openers and not generators.

That add combo points and do damage, Cheap Shot not.
