Mage's in a raid-environment?

Hey guys,
what kind of and how many mages would you bring to your raid? Currently I'm setting up my raid with 3 mages, all three are fire-specced. I'm woundering why none of them speccs for frost or arcan. Are those tree's not got enough for raiding?
I'd like to optimize my line-up by getting the best possible synergie between classes and speccs. Is there any "good" support stuff in the arcan/frost tree for other classes like +2% damage debuff or something like this?
Thanks for the help,
Marc

The number isn't really that important. Take 2, 3 or whatever. Raiding destination? Easier to give a more definitive answer then. Are the other trees raid viable? Sure they are but it's largly a matter of what you raid and what level (gear, skill ....) they are on.
If you are looking for class synergy effects having them all be fire mages is good actually since they share scorch buffs with eachother. Tossing in a arc/frost/whatever mage there won't really make anyone happier, they don't share any buffs with eachother -- if they had all been frost they would have shared chillin' buffs but that is beyond the point really.
No there is no support at the moment with tossing in a frost mage (in wotlk this will change from the looks of it). All mages can use frostnova, the support would be slowing mobs but since it's raiding all that is interesting are bosses and they dont get slowed.
Support buffing would be beastmaster hunters, shamans and possibly boomkin druids.

I know that Arcane mages have reduced threat from talents, which can be helpful.
In my old guild, most of the mages (including the GM) were Arcane and the better geared raiders were often at the top of the charts, doing roughly 1600 DPS by the end of T5 content. Whether or not this is good or merely acceptable is beyond the scope of my knowledge, but in comparison to the other people in our raids the Arcane mages blew everybody else out of the water.
Oh, and the GM always brought along his "trinkets" an Elemental Shaman, a Shadow Priest, a Balance Druid, and another Mage.
Edit: My old GM and I are in a new guild that has cleared all T6 content (all bosses downed, starting Sunwell in the next week or two). Over the past week he has gotten several big gear upgrades and in BT last night, his DPS was at about 2300. Once again, he was at the top of the DPS chart.

Looking at my guild's recent activity in BT our mages are dealing significantly more damage(and ending up higher in the charts) when they spec arcane compared to the same mages in a fire spec. They don't appear to pull ahead of the other classes but rather are fighting for the top spots with some of our better geared and skilled hunters, rogues, and warlocks with final rankings being determined by who got the most buffs from other raid members that night.
