Warlock VS DK in instances?

Now that DK is coming out will there be a lot of competition with warlocks to get into instances since both have a lack extremely reliable CC and are more DPS? Or will Blizz give warlocks some way to CC just enough to get dps spots? Or will cookies and soulstones be enough to get ahead?

They say CC will be less important in WotLK 5-mans. And I think you forget that warlocks do have CC, against demons, elementals and humanoids. Before the nerfs, a warlock was pretty much required in heroic blood furnace.

Lack of CC? Compared to what? Sap works on humanoids out of combat, sheep on beasts humanoids and critters, ice trap on anyone but comes out before next trap goes down, etc etc etc. Locks have 2 CC's at once if they wish. Succubus to CC humanoids and banish against elementals and demons. Anyone else have 2 CC's at once? I would think Warriors have more of a threat coming from the DK than Locks. Druids with their entangling roots coming inside would rival the effectiveness of the ice trap, you know there's a balance to the game where there is an attempt to keep from an end all be all of CC and there are a few new ones just for that.

Well I play a warlock and know the difference between the two its just succy usually gets 1 shot once seduce is gone
but banish is a pretty situational spell since i dont see a ton of demons or elementals

I think we will be seeing lots more Demons in WotLK considering most of the Lich king guys seem to be undead or Demons.

I can think of only one dungon where you fight demons and humanoids in the same pull and they're CCable. Some of the five and six-pulls in Shadow Labs, and maybe the Sunwell,1° Fear is a reliable CC (unless there are mobs all around you, which is quite rare). Curse of Recklesness doesn't dispell the fear when you cast it, it simply overrides the effect. Cast fear, cast CoR if the mob goes in the wrong direction, cast CoE when the mob is back to you (the fear shouldn't have worn off yet and thus the mob will run away again), and continue up till the point the mob goes in the right direction.
2° Keeping a mob seduced works. You just have to be aware of the timer (or any cc break) and take some initial agro on the mob (or let the tank do it), and try as much as possible to cc the mob far away from the succubus.
Magister Terrace is a very good example of an instance that has a number of 3 CC packs for warlocks. You won't do much dps on those packs of course, but saying you're not taken due to lack of CC just shows that you don't know how to use what tools you have.

Well heroic blood furnace was nigh-impossible without a warlock until they nerfed the
demons
that would 1-shot anything but a well geared tank. Magister's terrace has quite a few
demons
too, and so do all sorts of other instances.
Warlocks have CC. It may not be usable in every situation, but no CC is. Mage sheep? Demons, elementals etc. are immune. Rogue sap? Only out of combat, wears off, and again several mob types are immune. Priest shackle? Only works on undead. Priest mind control? Only works on humanoids, and takes the priest out of the fight. Hunter traps? They wear out and it requires skill to keep a mob under control this way (where many other CCs are essentially fire and forget).
Besides, warlocks have blatantly more CC than DPS warriors. That must be indisputable, even if you feel that all the above classes have better CC than warlocks. I would add shamans too, except they are getting hex.

Even with CoEx and CoR,
which shouldn't be on your hotkeys anyway
.Care to give your arguments about this please ? I'm really interested in knowing why that would be.

Actually, Warlocks potentially have 4 CCs: Fear*, Banish, Seduce, Enslave Demon.
*--Fear isn't popular, but can be useful if you have and use CoEx and CoR to balance it.
Fear isn't popular? If I see a warlock using Fear in an instance and I have any say in it, their butt is going to be gettho hearthed in an instant. The only place you have space enough to use Fear is in Slabs, and even then only on the last pull in each room. Even with CoEx and CoR, which shouldn't be on your hotkeys anyway.
So yeah. I don't care how useful it may seem to be. If you're going around kiting stuff instead of DPSing, then we can punt you and get a mage instead.
BULL&*!@ thats what your saying, roll a lock and see how it works then come back and tell us if its usefull at all
