This thread has merit. =) Anyways... to my point.
In every realm, whether (sp?) it's WoW Realms, Runescape (don't flame me for using it), AC, Eve, or the real world, you have these kind of people scattered everwhere. The difference is, in the real world, or perhaps other MMOs (not sure, since WoW is the only one I play), you DON'T have a trade channel people can spam. I go outside and get in my car, I don't have voices telling me "WTB Playstaion 2, $100 pst." The people are still there, I know where some of the trolls live in my town (because we all play on the same realm), but I don't get to hear them trolling.
That being said, I will also continue the point of anonymity (sp?). Yes, I'm generally a nice guy, but if I get $%^&ed off, I don't think about what people are going to think of me, so I'll lay into them -- Hey, nobody's going to know it's me, right?
I hope this made SOME sense and was in some way a good contribution to the thread. =)

But there is a point where tolerance is not enough. When you see some kid in trade chat yell "yo I $%^&ing raped his face in with yo mom" for the thousandth time I just literally get the urge to throttle him. I mean, what goes through these kids minds that makes them act like that.
I mean it is a game but this isn't, dare I say, Halo. It's an immersive environment that is supposed to be built on the community.
Today I had the pleasure of a Hitler conversation in my trade chat. Most were kids saying "I'm not saying he was a great man, he was a great military leader" or being complete jackasses and saying "Hitler was a god" or something similar. Excluding a Neo Nazi gathering where in the world would you hear someone say "Hitler is a God" to your face? World of Warcraft apparently has evolved into a place of such valuable anonymity that it is being abused.
So, do you find it hard to ignore the small letters at the bottom of your screen? Are you unable to turn off the chat or ignore the people?
You're being less mature about it than they are.
Once again, it's a community. Deal with it.
The question is not about the ability to ignore, it's the unneeded necessity to ignore that shouldn't exist. When I turn on trade to... well trade, I would like to be able to see crafter macros or WTS lines but instead I'm treated to the magical stylings of School-Just-Let-Out 1337speak. I've been dealing with it for about 3 years now and been watching it slowly deteriorate and we are just commenting on the current state of the world (of warcraft). So instead of jumping to the cynical comments and trying to make people feel low about themselves you can contribute to the conversation.

The game has definitely been filled with players that are or act like 12 year olds. I find myself just ignoring the Trade channel most of the time because it gets soo annoying sometimes, and theres not enough room on the ignore list to put everyone on there. I even find people from my own guild acting like this, I have changed guilds so many times because of stuff like this, I have finally settled on one that is at least run by mature adults.
The only thing worse than childish players like the ones described in this post are "elitists" that think they are gods in 5 man instances and tell everyone how to play their class. Yes, I get annoyed by people like "melee hunters" and tanks that don't don't know how to tank, but I still treat these players with respect. We were all noobs when we started playing.

There's a big difference between constructive critisism and being a total ^&*!wad.
I've stopped trying to give out constructive critisism, since it usually just generates hate and bad arguments. I've tried telling people the nicest way possible how to improve on something, when it's blatantly obvious that this is their first time there, or their first higher level character, but I've been yelled at for it too many times to want to do it again.
I'm a lot more likely to leave a group doing badly than trying to rectify the situation with the group at hand now than I was a year or two ago. And I'm getting increasingly more likely to. I just can't be bothered getting yelled at for trying to make stuff work.

I haven't played wow for a while now . I just can't take it any more. People are just so bitchy about everything. I just can't take it . It's soo lame . Been thinking of getting back into it, but I don't know. If people were more nice towards each other, I would most definately play . :)
