So, if I'm a healer, and my tank is getting hit for a certain amount, I have no choice but to either OVER-HEAL him, or wait until he dips dangerously low before letting my heal go off?
Lame. Let me decide how to spend my mana, I don't need this simplification...

The removal of down-ranking is a good thing.
It's not needed in the first place and is merely a method of going brain-afk while on MT-healing duty. Just spam your GHeal Rank 4. It will average out nicely... meh...
Play smart, use stopcasting, use HoTs and just wait how this all plays out in the end. If you can't stand the stress, start raid healing. ;-)

Personally, I don't see this as a nerf, I am happy that Blizzard is working on this issue.
As I stated in my previous post
, I never liked not being able to play my class to the full potential. It is ridiculously boring to cast GH in different ranks all the time, along with a few instants here and there.
There are many new talents/spells that are being introduced to healers, some of those require you to overheal to get mana back, some require the target to be at "x%" of health to use a special spell, and it looks like each healing class is receiving some sort of new damage reduction spells... to help with party/raid healing.
From what I have read on the Beta forums, the Priest healers at least Holy spec are remarking that it is a lot of fun to heal as Holy now, I can't wait to try it myself.

Personally, as much as I loved being able to use a rank 1 Holy Light to trigger Light's Grace (and thus shave off .5 seconds from my HL cast time) as well as a rank 6 Holy Light (heal and mana equivalent of a Flash of Light) to keep LG up constantly, I've always considered it an exploit and expected it to go away some day.
Outside of that, I've never downranked any of my spells, so it just isn't that huge a deal to me.
