Pretty much yes lol i perform well enough with about same as you . ill soon break the 1000 spell damage soon though :) ignorant and some people want too easy runs, remember group leader wanting a t4 warrior (at least) to tank or nothing.... lets just say it probably took a fair while to get one with being that elitists an strict... oh and it was only a easy heroic like SP/ramp etc
Gotta remember we technically have more than what shows in our character page anyhow.

talent gives us 15% bonus to what you have already on the spell we spam the most once scorch buffs are on... talking of which ...

gives +15%.fire dmg
These are the reasons why my guild warlocks are confused why my 800-900 Spell dmg mage does better than there 1100-1200 spell dmg warlocks.

Most likely they don't have enough spell hit. Too many locks skip spell hit for spell crit because spell crit is like the sexy exterior body of the car while spell hit is the engine block. I've out DPSed locks with "better" gear/specs(I use FG) many times and it's because I'm hit capped and they aren't
My point is that people get too locked into 1 stat and ignore the relationships between the stats. There are several key stats for each class and knowing the trade offs between them is one of the things that differentiate good players from bad players.

I used to get crap for having about 950 spell damage (self buffed), I never mentioned I have 260 haste, so once they thought I'd do "enough" DPS I proved that I could do about 250-350 more than they thought :)
