Ever hear of Spell reflection..?.
Macro an instant weapon changes to arm your shield and put you in the proper stance
and watch the spellcaster get knocked out of his shoes, then hit him with an intercept/hamstring. Bye Bye caster!

Spell Reflection
10 second cooldown.
Frostbolt
3 second cast
Yup, they can be reflected, but only one out of three.
Also this was a battle ground, not arena, its rare to be targeting someone before they hit you.
Also, with a mage, if you intercept before they blink you die.

blah. Any decent Frost Mage should be able to handle a warrior easily. They can out blink your intercepts and kite/nova you to death. Frost nova amplifies Ice lance damage 3x which is an instant cast. Spell reflect only delay your death by a few seconds. Good mages will recognize your shield and cancel their cast. So much for that 10k armor that doesnt mitigate any frost dmg. And if they mess up? Summon their water elemental and Ice block.
The best solution to handle a mage as a warrior? Be friends with a hunter.

You just met a mage in PvE gear, no big deal. Catch him and watch his health disaspear.

Never said fighting a mage was easy..you need to be quick with you reactions.
Immediately switch into defensive stance and arm your shield. It's instinctive for casters to attack with there most powerful attack first..if you can manage to reflect it the damage will be considerable.
If a mage does see your shield and cancels his spell then there is nothing to worry about..if he summons water element head toward the casters and fear the elements. Don't allow the caster to stay in one place.... make him move. Use your range weapon, this can sometimes cause a mage to instinctively move back..If he is moving then you can use intercept..then shield bash, thunderclap, hamstring his ass.
If your in a battleground..then you shouldn't be by yourself anyway..there should be a caster or hunter on your side going after the one attacking you..or a healer healing you. I always find the healers and tell them they need to keep their focus on me because I need to get into close quarter combat. Mage's are powerful but they aren't the be all end all of WoW..if they were..why would a group need a warrior tank in an instance. Ever notice a mage is the first to go when there is a wipe..just got to get to them.
Just one further note here...I think warriors have to stop thinking full DPS build all the time. These builds work great against pve's but against PvP that give us trouble, they fall short. I've watched 31/30 or 17/44 dps warriors geared to the max with full gladiator gear and dual weapons enchanted with executioner and moongoose, still get beat in duel with equal strength spellcasters. Try what I've tried and had some success with. After you have chosen either arms or fury tree for your platform and filled it to your liking consider putting the rest into the protection tree. Getting tactical mastery a 10% increase in armor value and especially last stand have proved to be invaluable in giving me at least a fighting chance. If you stop at 31 points in the arms tree after getting mortal strike you can even get yourself stun from the protection tree.
Post edited..One more thing..if you can... get yourself a six demon bag. These things are total fun against spellcaster. At my level they don't do much damage anymore but the reaction from mage standing at what he thinks is a safe distant from a warrior and then getting fireballed .lightning..wind or even sheeped is hysterical. If I run into them later on neutral ground I always get the emote..So & So "questions you." I alway respond with a /lol.

Just because someone is wearing full gladiator gear doesn't mean the know how to play, those gaurding the cave get honor too. Anyways, there are some builds based on arms/prot that are accepted as okay, but they are nothing spectacualar. Personally I wouldn't bother, the only classes I have problems with are casters and what does 10% armor help there?
Oh, and a mage isn't that hard, I never even bother to use spell reflection and its rare when I lose, just force a blink and remember your fear will let you get in hamstring range. If they iceblock, two-hit the elemental, they are weak.

10000K armored warrior..arms shield for another 4000=1400 armor increase buff and you considered that insignificant..? OK..whatever. I consider plate to be the warriors greatest asset and you can never get enough of it. I've alway believed that when it come to a warrior it's about surviving long enough to wear down your opponent. Make them use up their mana..keystroking command shout/last stand which can give me a 4000 health boost..using a macro that allows me to fear and then heal with first aid during the fear effect and constantly taking chunks out a caster until battles' end.
One other thing to mention..My build is 5/45/11..I do fine when I'm taking on PVE
and since both Bloodthirst and Rampage can proc even in defensive stance I get the mojo I need unload some decent dps when tackling PvP. My biggest trouble comes from taking on another full dps fury warrior. But that's life..you can't build to beat them all..WoW was never meant to be a solo played game anyway.. take along a friend.

not
magic damage.
Also, fury is the easiest of the warrior builds to beat in pvp, you can do it with a two hander or a sword and board, try it sometime, I go full tank gear for a 1v1 against a fury warrior.

My error in the way I interpreted your armor statement.
Meandog..looking at the amount of resilience you had and still getting crit like that..who was throwing those bolts..Zeus. Seriously..you sure someone didnt hit you with a devastate or sunder armor or something to that effect that opened you to taking that kind of damage.

Again, sunder armor affects armor, which does not mitigate magic damage, if he had a five stack of sunders and a fairie fire on him it wouldn't affect a frostbolt, nor would it give any melee additional chance to crit.
As I understand it, you can not completely remove crits from the table, only reduce it to something like a .00001% chance to be crit. Though the chances of someone getting a crit on you is very improbable, it is still possible, the effect of the attacks are determined by the RNG and random is just that, random.
edit: I didn't think about it before but those numbers look like it was a completely unmitigated crit, resilience not only affects the chance to be crit but also reduces damage done by crits, that is odd it seems to have just stopped working for a second.

PvE mage, he'd get eaten if you got a charge in first. Full S3 + epic trinket is 399 resilience, don't bother going over that.

I looked the guy up on armory (s1 vs my s2/some s3)S1, though weak, is still pvp.

Update
I got hit with a frostbolt tonight in a BG's. same effect..I got blasted for 3650k damage.
Son of #^$%....There has to be a way to mitigated this kind of damage. Has to be !
I going to start a new thread perhaps, find out something or someway to counter. Your resilience should have done something..maybe you should have it tested again in a duel...see if that kind damage occurs again. Scary to think blizzard created a toon that can blindside a warrior with that kind of damage.
