bloated
srsly

This seems to be the trend for hybrids; specing for something means bloated trees. (05/66 ret build, anyone?)
I'll take GbtL over JoJ, and possibly Divine Str over SoP, depending on the final numbers regarding sp/ap bonuses. If the new non-caster tanking gear provides enough strength for HoR and SoR (the new shield talent) to generate solid threat, then I'll go with 5 points in SoP to make up the difference for SoV.

I'm going to have a heck of a time deciding where to put all my points, and if the tree ends up like this on the live realms, there may not be a cookie cutter tankadin build anymore.
5/58/8
for threat.
0/60/10
for maximum survival (with one point leftover).
There are many other possibilities as well; gone are the days of flaming the newbs for deviating from the standard-issue 0/49/12 build. Thank goodness reckoning is still there, or we'd have nothing left to argue about!

For pure survival, forget the ret tree try:
5/64/0
(with 2pts left over)
the new
Divine Protection
+
Divine Guardian
= win, no aggro dump and 12s of 1/2 damage to you plus a 30% reduction to all raid members
No real feel for 5% parry vs the BV from Divine Strength, as to which one adds more survivability, but DS will also give DPS/TPS
And yes Reckoning still sucks at good gear levels :)

Gah! These talent trees keep changing on me >,...,<
Well, I had an idea the other night. Skip Ret and go into holy for a bit more flavor:
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sVhbMZV0tIg0dMgqeRGo
This gives pretty much everything you need, IMO. Though, I love eight sec. judgements, I would spec this if it was live. This gives you both Divine Guardian AND Imp. lay on hands. Essentially tow "oh no" buttons. One helps the group and you, while the other helps you only. Plus with the bonuses in healing from holy, and even a bit of fear/disorient duration reduction, it helps your heals IF you have to stand on the side. I also need not go into detail about it having improved threat AND mana cost reduction too. :)
The only real problem is that I want Imp. Devo. And since a nice handful of healadins will probably spec for sheath, I'd probably have to bring that along. Time will tell though. But for now, I like THIS build LOL!
Tune in next week when the talents change a bit again! XD

Incorrect.
Divine Protection is not Divine Shield and therefore doesn't work with Divine Guardian. And if you pop Divine Shield, party damage is going to go up because they are tanking the mobs, not you.
This may work if a Holy paladin wants to put 17 points in prot. He can reduce damage by 30% while he continues to heal.
When I posted that DG affected both DP and DS. They changed DG in build 8770
Protection
* Divine Guardian (Tier 4) now only affects Divine Shield. (Previously affected Divine Protection as well)
* Sacred Duty (Tier 6) now affects Divine Protection as well as Divine Shield. (Previously only affected Divine Shield)
* Hammer of the Righteous (Tier 11) now causes current weapon damage as holy damage. (Previously caused 100% of weapon damage)

The conversion was changed to a 2:1 ratio thus making DS look very tasty to Shield of the Righteous.Yeah, I saw that after my post.
But some quick math. My pally has 146 str now. With a 15% bonus, 21.9 which would round down to 21. So 10 block value for 5 talents?
I haven't seen the itemization for high level items for pallies, but I'm not sure there's going to be enough str on tank gear for this to be a really significant bonus.
I would recommend you read some more about the new pally changes.
Maintanadin has some good notes
, some key items:
In addition, most of our skills scale both with AP and SP. Only Healing spells and Holy Shield does not scale with AP - they scale with just SP.
New ability:
Shield of Righteousness
- based off of BV
In short, Blizzard is making STR a key stat for pally tanks in Wotlk.

Haven't seen the items yet, so my main concern was whether we would have enough for this to be significant.
If we're going to be using STR as a primary threat stat, then Divine Strength looks better than Seals of the Pure for threat, especially because of Shield of Righteousness. STR is going to boost all of our yellow damage except Holy Shield.
exactly, Blizz's stated purpose is to reduce the differences between itemization between the tanks. The current thinking is that STAm/STR will 2 key stats to stack after meeting avoidance goals. So start rolling on those "warrior" items :0
