Rogue views = We're fine, nerf druids.
Druid views = We're fine, nerf locks.
Lock views = We're fine, nerf rogues.
Shaman views = We're totally F'd, nerf wow
lmao as someone who does 2's and 3's as a resto shaman i <3 this post and approve its message :P
If i didn't have Vial of the Sunwell for an extra instant heal i would've lost soooo many more games -.- and though I don't mind spending 7 points in enhance for instant ghostwolf, it would be really nice to just get it instant for free, not like it removes snares or anything. But at least elemental is getting some nice survivability buffs, and i love being elemental in pve so pvp buffs might make me change :)

the only true stunlock was available in vanilla wow if you were spec'd 21/3/26, and would have been as follows: cs-hemo-gouge-ks-hemo-hemo-blind-blind-restealth-sap to reset dr-cs-wait for it to run out-ks-hemo spam to 5 cb evis. Killed everything with zero gaps. There's a vid out there of Unsouled ganking Ming with this combo while he was using nothing! but both dal'rend swords vs. mings full r14 set+raid epic fill ins.
However, none of this actually works anymore, so the idea of full stunlock is null and void.

Sorry to drag this one up again but I've been searching rogue forums as a form of espionage (got here by a link from rogue forums & thought it still was when I wrote this)
Maybe rogues are OP, maybe they aren't. Not played one so wouldn't know but as a MM hunter, I have immense difficulty against them.
I readily and happily admit that I am relatively new and, if I'm honest, not particularly good so if you're gonna start bitching "nub" & "huntard" etc, then I say, yeah? So what? I don't play to make
you
happy... (I don't mean to be a *!@# but having read some of the replies here, I'm a little on the defensive)
The advice for hunters is to kite the rogue. But I'm out cold getting carved up. So I pop my trinket (I wait for Kidney Shot (?) to dispel then pop the trinket on the 2nd stun - is that right?). So I come round but by now I'm well on the way to dead & you're still on full health or not far off it (you've had potentially 10 - count 'em - 10 seconds of utterly free hits). But rejoice, now's my chance to get a bit of range: Scatter Shot to lay a frost trap - most likely resisted or whatever it is you do with the cloak thing - but now I've got plumes of green smoke drifting off me which means that even if the frost trap worked, I'm moving at the same spe... dead.
And so it goes... I'm not whinging. Well, okay, I am a bit. But I'm really here for advice. I know it's the wrong place to ask but then again, maybe it's the best. If anyone could give me a pointer on how to at least nearly beat a rogue, I'll be eternally grateful. Yes, yes, you don't play to make
me
happy but take heart, someone (if you evil scourges even have one :) I'm genuinely asking for advice.
What sequence is typical and can I counter any of it?
Do you have weapon procs which stun as well?
Is there
any
way to beat a similarly specced rogue 1v1? (Do you ever get beaten by hunters?)
Hunter's Mark means you can't stealth but I'm sure I've come across "marked" rogues which have done. Is this true or am imagining it? It's academic anyway beacause even if I can see you, you still wipe the floor with me.
Like I said, I'm not very good but I seek the enlightenment to become better...
Tips:
- Use a boar pet. Yes, every other Hunter uses a cat because it has highest DPS, but every other Hunter is also a moron. Position the Boar on stay mode away from you, when a Rogue jumps you, just the pet's charge to stop them.
- Make sure you are specced into Surival for Entrapment. Yeah it's a @#$%ty proc chance, but it's a useful one that can make all the difference in a fight.
- Whenever you think a Rogue is about to run or vanish, get a flare down WHERE HE IS
GOING TO
BE, NOT where he is at the time of restealthing. Learning to pre-empt movement is important.
- Crippling poison is stupidly overpowered, but if it happens in a BG, try to carry around potions to counter it (Free Action potion etc).
- Other than all of the above, WoW is an MMO, which means gear makes a huge difference, if you are undergeared you can't expect to have an even fight, which sucks but comes with the territory.
Good luck.

I didn't feel like reading pages 2-5 so in response to the first post:
In my opinion Rogues are the easiest class to play at the moment, they're not overpowered but they sure are strong and easy.
I had never played a Rogue before so I decided to try making one on those private servers made for people to PvP and get you to 70 in an instant. Of course you start off with blue gear and you have to keep improving your gear by PvPing. Basically, I was undergeared and new to Rogues.
Went a bit of BG/duels and found myself able to kill almost anyone(Didn't try killing many Rogues or well-geared Warriors). It's really simple and cheat death was bugged and not working even. Especially with preparation you can have 3+ openers on a single target which really requires a lot of skill from the person I'm against.

The problem with that theory is that first, it doesn't take into account other players around, thus effectively halting the rogue's stunlock, which is nearly always the case.
Hah. Most of the time when my HOLY Priest (you know, the guy that heals everyones *ss?) is getting raped by a Rogue, no one helps. I don't buy this argument at all.

Thanks m8
I'll get a boar levelled & have a try at Entrapment. With regards Crippling Poison, I do carry a stock of Powerful Antivenom but I tend to get envenomated again pretty much immediately so it's usefulness has so far proved limited. I guess it's a matter of timing - I would need to Scatter Shot just before I pop the antivenom (doh. DOH. only just thought of that). If Free Action Potion (new to me) does what it says on the tin then sign me right up!
With regards to your note about gear, of course I realise it plays a major role. While I'm not kitted out in the absolute cream, my gear isn't shabby (Merc, Vind, Guardian's, 1 Veng & 1 Brutal). I appreciate that I must often come across opponents who outgear me - that's a given - but by the same token I must outgear a fair few myself. I by no means lose every 1v1 but the ratio is definitely not in my favour. I've only been playing since January & PVPing since April so I don't expect miracles but I live for the day I defeat a sneaky, low-down, underhand rogue!
Anyway, thanks again. Any more advice from hunters or rogues (or locks for that matter - hate you lot too with yer pets & yer dots!) would be greatly appreciated. I know I've hijacked this post a bit (mwahahahaha) but what does it really matter? Help please, if you can.
By the way, you want to train THIS Boar
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=16117
because it has the max rank of Charge.

easy to play, difficult to master.
