yes, we do have the anti fear trink, by the time we use it (u run pretty fast while feared) u are so far away the lok refears u and u die from the dots about 5 secs later.
LMAO,
Fear
only has a 20yd range, if you are running "so far away', you are probably out of range. As a mage, stay out of range and hammer him with your spells.
And yes warrs hunters and rogues all have stuff to get out of fear, but the fact remains that loks can just run and refear. u cant argue with that because its a fact blight.
Well since fear has a 1.5s cast time (1.3 with gladiator set) you have to stop to fear, which gets your
charged
,
Spell Reflected
,
Counterspelled
etc.
And warriors get
Bezerker Rage
- 10s of fear IMMUNITY every 30s. Warr gets feared, pops BZ and slaughters lock
Hunters with
Beast Within
poping
Bestial Wrath
get 18s of fear IMMUNITY for them and pet.
Rogues with
Claok of Shadows
, yeah 90% resistance isn't immune but it may as well be. Feared -> CloS -> ShdStp(if too far away)
As far as just running away, usually the war
hamstrings
, rogue uses
Crippling Poison
and hunter likes to be at range
i went over to my friends house to try out his lok in bgs. he told me, "just press that macro there to sic the pet on him and cast corruption, immolate, and curse of agony. then clik fear and start life draining and u wil own everyone. o, and dont forget to use soul drain right before they die, thats the hard part of being a lok." i did just that and I was pretty decent.
Furthermore, u cant say loks are first to be targeted 9/10 times, its always the mage because ppl see him casting 3k crits on top of the hill. they pay little attention to the "pesky" dots and seeds on them that the lok hidin in a bush is castin. If not first, next is the healers. the loks are only targeted when a mellee sees em and jumps on em or they try to rain of fire. just go to AV and defend SPGY, u wil see loks standin on the hill seedin and doting and ppl wil ignore them
Your example is horrible. Not sure where to start. Basically you are saying that locks aren't targeted 1st becuase they hide so they can't be targeted and instead people attack some one they can see.
"the loks are only targeted when a mellee sees em and jumps on em" - brilliant
Now in a situation where a lock, a mage, and a healer are all visible to the melee, who do you think gets the "love" first. Seriously, I have been in AV doing the SoC spam, standing right next to a priest/druid/shammy healer and the rogues will come after me over the healer almost every time. Or the warr charges me hamstrings BZs and plays whack a gnome. I have seen it happen repeatedly to me and other locks. When I'm not playing a lock I also watch people do the same thing.
And finally, it sounds like 2 different stories here.
Story 1 is lock dots, fears, drains and takes no skill at all.
Story 2 has them doting and SoC and using tactics such as hiding/positioning and NOT DRAINING(you know skillful things) so that he can't be found and killed.so quickly.

i was just telling my buddy the other day the dk is gonna be like a frost mage wrapped in plate with some warlock and priest sprinkled on him.
More like a ret pally crossed with a lock, with a sprinkling of frost mage.

And now a post to the OP:
Forst mages will be very welcome in raids between:
Imporved Water Elemental
and
Potion Sickness

I had an arguement earlier with another mage about frost mages in the expansion and all depending on how it goes, frost mages may become the dominate raiding spec simply because of mana regen+potion sickness(such as mentioned in the post above). Imp. scorch is easy to get at 18pts, that means a frost mage will bring the same utility. Leaving a fire mage in a very interesting boat and having to justify their raid slot. A frost mage will actually bring more utility to a raid, then any other mage spec currently.
10% crit, mana regen, 10% more damage to various trees. The answer to that becomes easy, imp. scorch has to go lower into the tree so fire is also viable and brings something to the raid, if it doesn't and a raid needs more DPS then that will probably be filled by other classes.

The thing is, the beta is no where near finished or balanced yet. The ultimate goal, according to Blizzard devs, are to balance dps and utility.
This is to say, if you're offering good utility, your dps is gonna suffer for it. If you're offering poor utility, your good dps makes up for it.
As it stands now in the current beta build, the utilities offered are
Deep Frost: Imp. Scorch + Winter's Chill + Imp. WE (very good)
Deep Fire: Imp. Scorch (moderate)
Deep Arcane: Focus Magic (weak)
Elementalist: Imp. Scorch + Winter's Chill (good)
So in theory, the ranking of damage should be
Arcane > Fire > Elementalists > Frost
However, as things stand now, it's
Elementalist > Arcane > Fire > Frost
So yeah, still some balancing to go around.

The problem aint frozen targets or icebarrier... Fingers of frost is good enough for crit.
Frost can only scale with fire and arcane if they increase frostbolts DMG! It's the only way. I've calculated how big the buff should be.
Frostbolts dmg need to get buffed by a 67.91 % in damage.

Wow dude I think I posted that like... several months ago? It kinda doesn't mean a whole lot anymore...
Frostfire has changed so much, and TBH, I think it's the way to go now. I'm in blues and I can still pull off almost 4k DPS on a 25-man boss fight and a consistent 3.3-4k DPS overall at least.
As Deep Frost/Meditation, I was only doing around 2.8k Max.
