I've regretted taking Inscription since Warlord, all the extra herbs I farm go to my alchemist instead, there's no fun in leveling Inscription. :(
Its meant to be complementary to raid drops. and as I see it, in particular the jewelcrafting rings is looking so incredibly attractive that its worth waiting to be able to make them. As you get a guaranteed socket and having shots at making the stat combo you want, without having to hope for a specific drop from a boss whom might be deep within the raid.
I'll echo the claim that sanguicell/breath of bwonsamdi isn't the problem with these recipes. If you're raiding mythic or heroic, these things stack up really quickly. I've got something like 1200 sanguinicelli sitting in the bank on my main (a clothie with tailoring), and that's as someone who's 5/8M, not someone who's been farming everything through mythic G'huun for a month or two. I mean yeah, if you're raiding normal and the occasional heroic Taloc kill, it'll take you some time to build up enough to craft heroic and mythic quality items. Call me an elitist, but I think it probably should take some time to get mythic-quality gear out of items from normal raids. That strikes me as the system working as intended. The real problems are: 1) the fact that this currency does absolutely nothing for a lot of professions. It's nice that they're making it a feast material in 8.1, but that still doesn't feel like enough; 2) expulsom. So many things wrong with this system. Having to buy or craft hundreds of greens to get a decent raid-level crafted piece even after you've farmed up all the sanguinicelli is both an absurd cash sink and obnoxiously time-consuming. It feels very poorly designed, and it doesn't look like there's much to hope for in the way of improvements in the near future.
Let me guess, you'll have to farm so many mats from the raid, you will have already gotten better gear then what you can craft by the time you collect enough mats.
Professions have become a bit of a joke IMO, with unreasonable requirements for both leveling and crafting. And I really don't like how it's now divided up by expansion. If Blizzard wants to make a positive change for me, nerf those requirements and undo the "leveling/training by expansion" nonsense.
Keep in mind that inscription was the ONLY profession that got any love in 8.0 in that they could make the Darkmoon Trinkets which are 355 and BoE. I'm still using them on all my characters. No other professions could make any BoE gear above item level 310 and, even though patch 8.1 adds some 340 BoE gear, that's really too little, too late.
Wow, this is the best they could do? Pathetic.
@All the people who say the amount of mats is reasonable cfor an ilvl415 item: No, it's not.Season2 will push every reward up by 30 ilvls. Which means the weekly M+ chest will go from 385 > 415. You have to complete one single +10 to get this item AND have a 60% chance of getting another ilvl400 item in the dungeon itself. Running a single dungeon takes what? 30mins? Even if you are not a progamer and wipe your arse through it, it might take 2 hours. Is it possible to farm all those mats in 2 hours? No.
Really poor profession design in this xpack. At the warfront you will get 370 gear so honestly who will buy any 340 from a crafter? Same thing goes on today, you can craft ilvl 300 when the min. requirements for Heroic dungeon is 305 which makes it totally useless. You do WQ and getting 325 gear but no crafter can beat that (except scibers). JC market is a joke since all I see is 1-2 socket on the whole gear... Do you guys remember when had like 3 sockets on the main pieces? Well that was a good design today? Mehhh. The RNG on the armors does not help at all, not to mention the world creatures HP incrases with you item level witch leads straight to pointless gearing up procedure. It feels exactly the same to hit a mob with ilvl 280 and ilvl 360 character, takes the same time to kill it so whyt to bother it. Get the min. ilvl for lfr and you saw all what the xpack can offer. Sad story :(. Doing mythic+ dungeon is just doing the same instance over and over and over and over and over... which is dead boring. After Blizz succesfully killed the economy in this xpack there is nothing realy left to do. Before I did some lfr, dungeon, and enjoyed to discover different markets and playing aroun the AH. Today I just think of it and rather reach out for the xbox controller as this thing is not in the game anymore. I'll check on lfr for 8.1 will take a look at the quests read the stories but I don't think it worth to spend more tiime on this Xpack. Story is great, WQ good, zones lovelly and woahh and such I love the jungle or dustvar so it outstanding, and well that's it. Economy dead, gameplay? GCD.... falling asleep in lfr multiple times because after hitting a button you just wait and wait and wait and wait and Now you can hit another button, but you have to wait and wait and wait again. So no gamplay is ultra slow even in PVP, it is the exact same. By the time a crafter get mats for a single item for let say 355, he already has an average ilvl 360... so it is not helping at all. Worst profesion line up ever what we have today. Never been so bad and boring. I understand blizz try to force people to buy tokens to have gold and make more profit but this will backfire quick and subs will drop super deep as all the casual AH goblins leave the game to do something else. Grindfest does not prolong active subs it is just temporary. Make it interesting and sophisticated, deep and it will bring players on, make it shallow dead boring grind and you loose them quick. To bad blizz does not care about this at all, and as 8.1 shows they care even less. So far subs were up for the "new story"+"new expansion" now the middle time comes sooner than ever since there is nothing else to do. We had been forced to do every single quest already, exalted with all the factions. Me as I almost never had exalted with anyone I have every single one on exalted level. So let see what can I play today: Go for WQ? ... ivl 325 for my 356 char .. lol no, get some rep? nope not needed, so ok, lets not do WQ, let's go and craft some stuff for ah. Enchaner? have 2 item to enchant: ring + weapon. You have to babysit AH for 10 Gold... nope not good. The best selling products at the moment are the raw mats as people jumping on every profession and try to max it out. So best gold maker if you not a scriber is to go and gather stuff... Well so you can go out and grind the same route over and over or kill the same poor creatures over and over and over. Which does not requires more than 3 braincell to be active which leaves dead booring game play. So this is the real problem. Higher ilvl does not mean anything since you will fight the same amount of time with everything, to able to run mythic 5 instead of 4 is not really interesting to be honest. Already farming heroics after runing normal dungeons are not the exciting so mythic is just meh. I hope at the next xpac blizz will realize we need more complex gearing, like we had in wotlk, more complex and interesting professions. It was awsome back in WotLK compare to today.
