I mean, it would lead one to believe that it's only available during the holiday. So who really cares?
Seeing Blizzard add value to an old achievement is striking, if only because disposable rewards are what drive so much of this game. It doesn't take anything away from me, so why not let the Scarab Lords have something. I'll probably never see the black silithid mount on my server.
I understand and appreciate players having unique items/mounts/etc, and I agree that it gives the world more flavor.HOWEVER!As an insane mount collector, it infuriates me to no end when I see new treatments given to unobtainable items. Feels like I'm being told:"Hey there, super dedicated collector! You know that incredibly cool mount that you've wanted so badly to add to your collection for your entire WoW career? Just wanted to remind you that you still can't have it, and never will! And to rub some extra salt into that wound, we're making it look even cooler than it used to. Thanks for playing!"
I find it unfair for some us that they give them a free updated mount , I think they give us a mount that is not temp. It would be awesome.
My only problem with this is pretty much none of the remaining Scarab Lords are legitimate ones, all of them are Wrath of the Lich King cheesers who got it using server transfers, and i'm fairly certain very few IF any true vanilla Lords even exist anymore.
They made it look worse.
While i am completley fine about people who got the scarab lord title get the mount, still would love to see something for Veteran of Shifting Sands owners as well :) could at least let use one of other AQ mounts outside of raid :D
I was not playing WoW at the time of the opening of Ahn-Qiraj though years later before it was removed from the game I did complete the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest line and still have the Scepter in my bank as proof of my diligence in questing. I have a thorough appreciation of how special obtaining that rare mount really is to its few owners. Those who have the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal will always have that very rare mount. Though others will have a black bug mount it will never be that rare mount. No one (except the annoying revisionists at Blizzard who regularly steal our hard-won achievement points) can take the achievement of opening Ahn-Qiraj away from those who rang that gong. The new Black Qiraji War Tank will always be a different mount whose similarity to the mount from the opening of Ahn-Qiraj can't make it then same. That said I would suggest to the game designers that they add a distinct, colored mark to the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal mount that provides a visual distinction between it and the War Tank version beyond the difference in accent colors. Perhaps a mark shaped like the Scepter of the Shifting Sands would help distinguish the two mounts.
This is pointless. The only people to get this are those that already have the original. If Blizz wants the mount to be prettier than scarab, make the original prettier. Done. Quietly re-skin it to HD and be done with it. Tossing another limited mount does nothing but volley complaints from people that can now never get *two* mounts (as this thread clearly shows) rather than one, and refuel the "how do I get...", "you can't, you dolt", and "I think everyone should get..." rhetoric that took *years* to calm. GG,Blizz.
agree 100%, i never played during this period, im always impressed by people that have this mount, let them have their special thing, they worked for it.
There's some aggressive entitlement in this thread. Blizzard was making upres versions of the old AQ-only mounts as part of the micro-holiday anyway, so why not take the time and give long-time players a nod? Y'all are talking about "wasted dev time" like Blizzard is some indie studio that devoted half a year to an upres using the same model and rigging instead of one of the biggest developers in the world adding a side benefit to an event they were already running. If anything, this directly implies that they're open to doing the same for similar content when it's relevant, so maybe we'll see stuff like an upres of the Amani bear in BfA? In the meantime, don't waste effort getting angry about a very small amount of development work going into a nice bonus for people who've been supporting this game for ~10 years (given that lots of people got it via server transfer in Wrath, which will be 10 years old in November). Been playing since 2014, Blizzard doesn't owe me or any of us jack #$%^.
